The people involved with the ceremonies are completely different. The ceremonies themselves are completely different.
Canton and Cooperstown are Meccas to their respective sports.
Lets be honest here, the RRHOF is BS,kinda like the tiddly-winks HOF.More people grow up dreaming of being exiled from, than enshrined in,Cleveland.

I think you think too little of Cleveland..

Probably true, but I have to say, there are plenty of worse places to live. Actually, Cleveland is a pretty nice area. I could do without the snow, but otherwise, it's pretty good.

Well that's my point. Cooperstown isn't a big metro area or media mecca, yet, they hold the induction there.

Ok, let's think about the baseball HoF induction.. who's there? A handful of young baseball players, a bunch of old baseball players, and a host of baseball fan geeks..

Who was honored this year? Hank O'Day.. who? you might ask..well he was a manager, a scout and an umpire.. born in 1864. Jacob Ruppert.. again I had to look it up, bought the Yankees in 1915 and owned them for a long time.. and finally we have Deacon White, who played 3rd base for Boston from 1871-1890... the event was attended by 2,500 people..

So who was at the R&RHoF ceremony? Heart, Usher, Public Enemy, Quincy Jones, Spike Lee, Christina Aguilera, Mike McCready, the Foo Fighers, John Mayer... and was attended by over 8,000 people...

Could they have it in Cleveland? Of course they could.. but I'm not sure why you are struggling to understand why they don't... as for the baseball induction, they could hold that in my backyard and I don't think too many people would care.

Actually, they have held it in Cleveland and if memory serves me correctly, they (the RR HOF) called it a great success. Again, FWIW

I continue to get a good laugh from the people who say that they won't go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame unless _____ is inducted. This is telling me that I guess the likes of the Beatles, Elvis, Eddie Cochran, the Rolling Stones, the Who, and countless others before their beloved kiss who shaped Rock and Roll what it is today isn't worth the time and money to spend a day there. Hate to tell you but kiss didn't invent Rock and Roll music. Personally I don't understand what is so great about kiss's music, it's all about partying and doing underage girls, and a song called Beth is about a guy who would rather be with the boys playing music than be with his woman. Real substance there. Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons are the most arrogant people in the business. I doubt they will be gracious when the honor is presented. I believe Ace Frehley when he said that all Simmons does is bad mouth people.

Just my never to be humble opinion.

I was happy to see Hall and Oates, Peter Gabriel, and Cat Stevens get in.

NO cRappers, thank you very much.

Very happy to see Brian Epstein and Andrew Loog Oldham get their long overdue honor. They did so much for the success of the Beatles and Rolling Stones, respectively.

I'm not a fan of letting the public weigh in on the voting though. It was never needed before. Although they said it isn't like the American Idol voting process I have my doubts.

My wish list for the 2015 ballot is; Grand Funk Railroad, Deep Purple, Bachman Turner Overdrive, the Guess Who, Link Wray, and producer Eddie Kramer.
