Police cite basketball star with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
HUNTINGTON -- Huntington High basketball star O.J. Mayo was cited by police late Friday on a misdemeanor drug possession charge.
A small amount of marijuana was found in a car Mayo was in, according to the Cabell County Sheriff’s Department.
Mayo, two adults and one juvenile were all in the car, which was parked along the 2200 block of Tenth Avenue, when police approached the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s department.
No one was taken into custody, but each person was cited for misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
They must now appear in Cabell Magistrate Court to answer the charges. It’s unclear if a court date has been set.
Mayo and the other suspects were cited after a drug raid in that area. The raid was not related to the citations issued to Mayo and the others in the vehicle, police said.
