Yes it was orginially but I never got to edit it till now as I was trying to find a link to the presser..I did find this quote on the OBR.

[color:"red"] History shows you can find guard-center-guard on day two of the draft. The left tackle position is taken high in the draft. Our offensive line will obviously have some changes in it. We want to find a five-some with backups. With A HIGH PICK you can only addressone need at a time.

I am pretty sure Phil's quote is something like this

[color:"red"] they signed him to play LT BUT potientially if they got a LT they could move him to the right side.

Here's his exact quote

[color:"red"] One of the Positives of Shaff is he had played on the left side , but ,potientially in time if there was a chance for him to move to the right side and we had a opportunity to get a LT than maybe that would be part of the equation

So scratch my earlier remark..

Really BLAH stuff.

We need a "puke" icon.

Oh, give it a rest. If it's bothering you that much, go listen to something else and let the people who actually support our team talk about our future.

I'm just tired of being talked to by the idiots in charge like we're idiots too.

We lost every game within our division by a combined score of 75-157. Yeah ..... we're close. We have won exactly 1 freakin game against a division foe in the past 2 years combined. Yeah ... we're close. Close to what is the question.

And we only won one game the year before. Whoopty ding-dong. One game makes no difference whatsoever. Put us in the NFC West and we'd be 10-6 and still not be able to beat Baltimore, Cincy or Pittsburgh -- but at least then you could sleep at night, right?

New Orleans: Great record, right? They didn't beat Baltimore, Cincy or Pittsburgh all year, and only beat two teams over .500 all year. Get a grip!

And, if you have the feeling that you're always being talked to as if you're an idiot, I suggest you get that looked into.

Agreed, DC. Lots of spin. He made that comment a bunch, but then mentioned how great of a year this is to be in the top 5 Guess he's leaving his options open.

Define spin. What I heard was a pretty humble guy telling us:

-- there are no easy answers or magic bullets for a 4-12 team with no core nucleus of players, but the evidence of a core nucleus is evident and growing.
-- he'd rather build a team by drafting Kamerion Wimbley's than sign a bunch of mediocre stop-gap players in free agency and be stuck with a bunch of mediocre stop-gap team 5 years from now
-- remain non-commital about his plans for the draft (as not to tip his hand for any potential trade-down offers)
-- remain non-commital about whether he wants to stay in the top-5 or trade down (again, to preserve any potential trade-ploy on draft day)
-- say that centers and guards can be found on 2nd day but specifically mentioned that LTs are not.

It continues to amaze me how much BS you guys can read into things:

"Savage spins this! Savage spins that! He's a liar! He should be fired! He treats us like MORONS! The media is BIASED! They're trying to split Crennel and Savage apart! They should both be fired! The owner doesn't pay enough attention! People don't pay enough attention to me!!"

I guess we'd prefer he came out, tip our hand by saying who we'd like to draft, say we'd never trade down, remove all potential for flexbility on draft day, say what free agents we desperately wanted to target and generally screw us over in public.

Then, we loudly accuse him of being a moron.

Uh-huh...

Reminds me of an Eric Clapton lyric: "...before you accuse me, take a look at yourself..."

Thanks. I can't take credit for it, but when i read it, it struck me like a ton of bricks. And it goes back to what Phil said today, we've never had a nucleus of young talent to build the future on.

This year, regardless of our 4-12 record, the thought that we do have the beginnings of a nucleus is encouraging: Sean Jones, D'Quell, Kamerion, Edwards**, Winslow, Pool, Bodden, Holly.

Add two more first-day picks to that list from this year's draft, a surprise or two here and there, and all of a sudden we have an incredibly-promising YOUNG group of players that move ahead together, know one another, and serve as a foundation for the team.

Really, continuity and draft-pick rentention is the only thing we haven't tried since 1999.

So, it's okay for you to criticize the team, in your own way, but nobody else can?

It's a message board and YTown has a right to express his opinions. I know he has been a fan of the Browns for a long, long time. And if you don't like reading the negative comments, don't bother reading. The Browns have sucked for years; it is only natural that people are going to be frustrated.

Exactly.

No one is forced to read anything that I type.

As an aside ...... If we gave Shaffer a $36 million deal, with almost $10 in bonuses ..... to potentially be a RT ..... we're in worse shape than I thought.

I know some don't like to hear it ... but just more spinning from the FO ......
