Tough topic. Nick is loved in Cleveland.

However, everyone knows the score. Nick will be 29 Dec. 27th.

The last game I believe I saw some improvement. He moved the pile and seemed a little quicker than what he has shown.

Still the NFL is not kind to aging injured running backs.

The rest of this year should at least give us a baseline to where Nick is at.

After this season is over Nick and his future in Cleveland should become clear.

I think he will be here IF he wants to be - with another incentive based deal probably.

Either way, we will be drafting a RB in the mid rounds IMO

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I think that would be true if he didn't have the injury (then again, we wouldn't be having this discussion if it weren't for the injury).

We won't know what he'll look like post-injury until next season.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Damn folks...you gotta give Chubb a chance to fully recover before you S-can him.

Chubb has earned a roster spot on this team based on "HIS EFFORT" to return. The choice should be left up to Chubb and not based on the same guy who was in charge of judging talent for the Browns...aka: GM, Andrew Berry..!

That would be the same guys who judged Kareem Hunt as being "WASHED UP" as a Browns RB.

Sorry, but the Browns GM has lost a lot of cred as a judge of football talent and kicking Hunt to the curb is just one more example of Berry's lack of judgement as a NFL GM.

That's a tough question to address. They have the rest of the season and the film that's yet to come before any such decision needs to be addressed. As you stated, he seems to be slowly getting better. So at this point in time I don't think the question is quite ripe. Only until we have the rest of the season in the books would it be in any way fair for me to try and speculate on this issue moving forward.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

At the end of the season you make a decision.

He will not be getting any long term deals.

He will be on yearly performance based deals.

That is reasonable.

I do not like Ford at all. IMO he is below average. He has horrible instincts and vision.

No matter what they need to draft a back.

For most running backs it is year two when they regain their form after an ACL injury. I do think Chubb has a place in the Browns future for the next 2 to 3 years but at the same time capable back up needs drafted. Someone that kind share carries with him next couple years and eventually replace him in the back field after 2 to 3 years.

I don't believe in Ford as that player. Chubb is still special, but the wear and tear, especially with this offensive line, won't do any favors to extend his career. I suspect he will run like the warrior he is. After Hunt, I don't have confidence in many of our personnel decisions, and who has gone. Unfortunately, I do believe the sun has started to set for him. How fast, how badly, and how long he has remains to do document. Hope he has all the success he has earned and deserves. Go, Nick!

I'd offer him a team friendly, 2 year deal with a team option for a 3rd.

You all know how this stuff always seems to go. First year back after a tough injury is hard. Getting a read on where a guy can be it hard.

But the following year always seems to show them making strides back to being the best they ever were.

With chubb, he's the guy I'd never count out. He's just that tough....

I'd not be willing to part with him.. I'd pay him and keep him.

IMO we need to be patient.

Surgery is not an easy thing to come back from.

We tend to think of established timelines for various surgeries.

The truth is each case is different because of the athlete, his age, and the injury itself.

Rehab is brutal and painful. It is slow and really frustrating. You want it to heal and you want it to feel "normal."

It does not feel normal.

ACL tears according to those who have had the surgery say "you start to feel normal the second year."

Right now Nick does not have that explosive gear he had. Maybe next year it will return.

We don't know for sure but I will give Nick the benefit of the doubt.

No doubt we bring him back next year, or at least will try. That said, we need to draft a back to take over at some point, and that point may very well be next year.

Maybe I am dreaming but my hope is Nick returns next year and is back all the way.

Then he plays two or three years more and retires as a Brown.

I feel the same way. Let's give Nick a chance. He's not fully recovered yet and probably won't be for another 6-8 months.

I would expect Nick to get an extension before the end of the season. The team is being far too cautious with him to not extend him.

That’s a good point. I believe they want to give him another season, and my heart says he wants to remain a Brown. He’s beloved by Browns fans - as in LOVED - and he seems like the kind of guy who puts importance on that.

We need to draft a back next year, but he has earned our faith.

Nick is fine. The Offense line, TEs, WRs and their run blocking and run blocking scheme SUCK big time. There are very few open holes and no cut back lanes for any RB, let alone Chubb to have any success. Everyone assistant coach needs to be upgraded in the off season.

And why I would hope we can bring him back. It will depend on what kind of terms he is seeking, but past history shows he is fair with the teams needs.

As Bone said, I hope he can come back and play another few years, but I am at a "show me" point with Nick. Two major surgeries on the same knee, he is nearing 30 where it is typical to see a runningback start to head down the hill, it just doesn't stack up to favorable odds. That said, if anybody can beat the odds, Nick is a candidate who can.

Nick is fine.

First..nick is not "fine"..!

Nick is still recovering, attempting to regain his strength and recover from the injuries and surgeries, a result of his Sep 2023 knee injury.

Chubb's work to fully recover from his injuries is not done..! While his teammates take a vacation from a tough season to recover from the 2024 season, we can expect Chubb to do all he can to put in the work to improve his play in the upcoming 2025 season.

I expect Chubb to "OUTWORK" his teammates in an effort to be the best the best RB he can be..!!

Good luck, Nick..!

A gem from Scott Petrak on Chubb. I deleted a bunch of the copy that pertained to Kareem (sorry KH). You guys will have to trust me on that one.

BEREA — Nick Chubb proved he could make it back to the field.

Then he showed he can still get in the end zone, stand up a blitzer and pick up chunks of yardage if provided room to run.

He’s been through so much in the last 15 months — a grueling rehab after the second reconstruction of his left knee — that with the Browns 3-10 and eliminated from the playoffs, people would understand if he decided to not play the final four games and focus on getting ready for 2025.

Greg Newsome II placed on IR; Kadarius Toney cut; kicker signed to practice squad

“I have a long way to go before I shut anything down,” Chubb said Wednesday. “Every time I go out there, it’s practice reps, game reps, it’s me just getting better physically, mentally, all around. So I’m nowhere near shutting it down. Not even a thought.”

Chubb returned Oct. 20 and is still trying to regain the form that made him a 1,000-yard rusher and Pro Bowler in each season from 2019-22. He’s shown slight improvements but not the explosion or breakaway speed that made him one of the league’s best running backs.

He’s carried 93 times for 291 yards, a 3.1 average and three touchdowns. He’s measuring the progress in baby steps.

“It’s the small things with me, just simple as breaking a tackle or making the right cut or right read,” he said. “That’s the biggest thing for me right now. But other than that, I do feel better.”

Analysis: Jameis Winston should start rest of season to see if he can cut down on INTs, earn spot for 2025

In the 27-14 loss to the Steelers on Sunday, he rushed 11 times for 48 yards, a 4.4 average. He had a season-long 19-yard run.

“It felt good to get in the open field,” Chubb said. “Obviously it’s been awhile since I’ve done that off a run play, but it felt good. Hopefully you can just build on top of that, but have a great challenge this week in the Kansas City Chiefs, but looking forward to getting back.”

The future is uncertain for Chubb beyond the final four games. He’s scheduled to be a free agent in March after agreeing to restructure the final year of his contract for 2024, taking a pay cut to $2.275 million plus incentives.

The decision-makers of the Browns must determine if a second year removed from the injury will allow Chubb to again be a true No. 1 back, how much they’re willing to pay and if they’re willing to lose a favorite of the coaches, players and fans.

Chubb, who will turn 29 on Dec. 27, said it’s important for him to finish his career with the Browns, adding there have been no discussions about an extension.

“I started here. I’d like to finish here,” he said. “Cleveland just means a lot to me. Everything we’ve been through, ups and downs...”

Nick Chubb selected Browns’ Ed Block Courage Award recipient

Then Monday he was announced as the team’s Ed Block Courage Award nominee for his fight to return.

“It means a lot,” he said. “Obviously my teammates thought of me to win the award and just thinking back to all the rehab process, everything I’ve been through, I couldn’t have done it without my teammates, my coaches, the city of Cleveland, everyone around me.”
