The game is still going, but at 31-10, it's all but over.
Embarrassing. This is how you come out week 1? Ok, you lost your starting QB, however, your backup gave you a spark. Quarterback was the least of our worries today.
The offensive line in run-blocking was beyond horrible today. I don't care what kind of a front the Jets have. You want to sell the fans on being a hard nose team that runs the ball? Then you better win some battles up front. You won almost no battles at the LOS. Don't sell us on this garbage, and draft backup OL if this is what we're going to get.
And defensively? Another facet you want to sell us on, really? Joe Haden had one of the worst games I've ever seen out of a Browns CB. Tashaun Gipson getting the ball ripped off an INT. Shades of Maurice Clarett.
I thought the Browns got screwed on Manziel's pick. Hartline was held and they no called it. Hartline also didn't really sell it.
I'm just so disappointed in this defense. So much money and draft picks put into it, and we were served a giant plate of crap today. I know it's 1 of 16, but we had a great opportunity served to us on a plate playing Jets/Fitzpatrick.

The Browns need to find a running game, badly. I understand the Jets defense is good, but when your QB's are your leading rushers, that's not good.

I'll just paste this here too.
Well ..... all I can say is that this has been one incredibly ugly game. The best comparison I can make is that while I was channels surfing last night, I came across some really stupid show about a guy who wound up going on a date with an absolutely hideous troll.
That is what this game looks like ... a hideous troll. So many stupid mistakes, billions (OK, a slight exaggeration) of penalties, players running into one another .... 5 or 6 turnovers?..... fumbles that should never have happened ..... what an absolute mess.
I can accept some mistakes, given that Manziel missed time in camp, and only returned to practice last week, but man, this is just abhorrent.
I would assume that it is very likely that McCown could be out next week as well ..... so at least Manziel will get time to practice, but in this game even out=r strengths let us down. The OL looked like they have never played together. The secondary has been an embarrassment. Again, we cannot stop the run.
*Sigh* Thank goodness it's only one game. There is a lot of work to do before game 2 though, that's for sure. Game one has been a mess.

0-16. The Browns without a doubt are horrible. Where is this GREAT D everyone has been pimping?? LOL! Where is this GREAT OL everyone was pimping? I had my reservations on both. What we do have is the worst organization in the league and there is no way to sugar coat it.
A frickin rookie head coach who takes over for a 4-12 team takes Pettine and co. to school.
PATTHETIC........0-16.

I won't waste anymore time on this team or the NFL. We suck and the refs throw more flags than the QB's. The league is unwatchable.

Defense was a freaking joke today.
OL played like they had money on this one. Unfortunately they obviously put their money on the Jets. Anytime we picked up a first guarandamntee the OL was gonna get a flag.
I thought Johnny looked really good at times and at other times his inexperience showed but the team let him down more than the other way around.
Not challenging the Marshall TD was stupid on Pets part.
Just a very undisciplined game and the team looked ill prepared.

Every year I try to identify the guys that really want it on this team.
The guys that you can tell are so competitive that they want to win no matter what.
And if some guys don't show it, I look for the coaches to bring it out of them.
There isn't enough "want to" on this team.
Quite frankly the players and coaches are fine with losing.
To me that's the most disappointing thing of all.
And get ready for the most incredibly dumb decision in Cleveland sports in a long time. Manziel needs game time experience. And as soon as McCown is ready to go Pettine will take the coward way out and start McCown robbing Manziel of much needed reps.
That's all I got for now.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

Undisciplined play. Uninspired play.
And those uni's are god awful. That made it even harder for me to watch.

Week 1 MVP - Brandon Marshall. Who we could have had for the price of Mayle's draft pick and Bowes salary.

1. Manziel did play better. He stayed in the pocket and went through progressions before bouncing out the pocket. guys, that has to be acknowledged.
2. I don't wanna hear anything about our OL being a strength anymore. They got straight up bullied.
3. Hawk and Gabriel looked good.
4. awesome catch by hartline.
5. running game was terrible. Johnson looked way better than Crow, but the OL run blocking was just...ugh.
6. TE's suck. simply suck. Dray needs to find a new job.
7. Haden got schooled today.
8. our entire defense was just terrible.
9. how the hell did Gipson get outmuscled by marshall? He shouldn't even be credited with a INT after that nonsense.
10. always next week i guess.

This is the first time I've been upset at the Coaching Staff.
The team looked completely unprepared. The Jets owned the trenches on us and we shot ourselves in the foot with these penalties.
I thought Manziel looked good, and I don't think he would have had that first fumble had it not been 3rd and freakin 18.
And McCown wouldn't have gotten a concussion had he not tried to run 15 yards, because Greco gets a penalty in goal line situation.
The two times we were in the Red Zone we were killed by offensive line penalties. Infuriating.
And then the defense. Joe Haden's worst game I've seen him play. Mix that with crappy play from Witner and the whole D-Line/LB unit.
I wish there wasn't a players union, because this team needs to show up to practice TOMORROW. There's no Monday off, there's no Tuesday off. They're professional players, and today, I didn't see guys who prepared like professionals. The game wasn't taken seriously.
This easily is one of the biggest let downs I've felt in awhile

I like to try and be optimistic but it seems like a waste of time. I'm starting to believe in all the negative posters on this board who say show me. They are right. I thought we might win 4 or 5 games this year. After today we'll be lucky to win one.

That's all I got for now. Spot on. Johnny was far from perfect today, but you can tell he put the work in. He looks much better than last year. He has an incredibly long way to go, but aside from securing the ball, I think he did enough to at least have the conversation for keeping him in next week. For a young QB, the absence of your running game, and your overrated defense getting crushed doesn't bode well for him. Things need to improve. What a let down.

Same old Browns. Manziel had a good drive, then was crap the rest of the game. The rest of the team was just terrible. This organization is such a joke.

What a pathetic effort.
The Browns extended their own NFL franchise record for opening day losses.
This team lacks any kind of leadership. Shame on Pettine for his lack of leadership.
Elite D? Give me a break. I'll be shocked if they finish in the top half of the NFL. Zero sacks? Wow.
The Browns are the welfare headquarters of the NFL...it's where you go to just collect a check.

Pretty much. Look, I'm not expecting this team to make the playoffs this year. I'm not saying that's ok, or it's acceptable. It's just my expectation based on what we have. I want to see growth and improvement. When they ask these coaches about about the lack of a running game today, I don't want to hear about how the Jets were just that good up front. Don't sell me on this toughness/running game crap if you're just going to chalk it up to the other team being better. I'd have rather they just said nothing than try to sell us on this fake philosphy of being tough and "playing like a Brown" BS. I'm not going to call for anyone's head after 1 game, but this is the kind of stuff that gives reason for coaches being shown the door and regime having to start over again. They really need to avoid this, so that we don't have to start things over again next year. We need these guys to be good. We need growth. I don't want these guys to lose their jobs. I know they're better than this.

Eye opening for sure. If we can't stop the Jets offense then it's going to be a long season. I'm predicting 2-14. Can't see us doing better. This bums me out.

I am not as disappointed as I should be I expected us to get our asses handed to us this year and Walla we got our asses handed to us.
I want Johnny to start and play he is ready and there is zero for him to gain by sitting he is simply ready to take the next step and gain valuable game experience.
The Train Wreck thing was a bad plan anyway Johnny gives me hope for the future his time has come the game has slowed down for him let him play I say we have zero to lose and everything to gain.
You all want to really kick your own asses watch Bradford tomorrow night and remember none of you wanted him....LOL cause grown men don't cry.

Is anyone really, honestly, surprised by this outcome?
In the big picture, seeing this organization since '99? No. With this newer coaching staff and regime? Sure. Pettine had this defense playing hard with heart last year. There was none of that today. Today was worse than any game last year. We gave games away late last year. Today they kept going with these unforced errors, and awful running game and defnse. I am pretty surprised. Seriously, go back and look at the Colts game last year. Defense balled out the entire game. It really made you think that with a better QB, maybe this team is pretty good? There were a few of those last year. Even the last game which is usually when we get blown out, they had a lead in the 4th with Connor Shaw....

Hopefully this will be remembered the next time the Browns don't spend a lot in FA. Young guys on rookie contracts or even their second contracts aren't really guilty of that. They really need to be selective when it comes to that. The signing of Bowe looks beyond horrible right now.

The Browns just aren't a very good team.
I figured we had a better shot against the Jets than what ended up happening.
I have an odd question..I didn't see the game, did the Jets go out of bounds a whole lot? The stats on NFL.com say the Browns had 25 total tackles vs. 15 completed passes and 36 rushing attempts (and 4 TDs) for the Jets. That doesn't sound right. That is about 50% of plays going out of bounds rather than being tackled.

there wasn't a whole lot of tackling go on for our defense.
