I haven't seen a thread for JUST the Blue Jackets so I'm curious to know how many die hard Blue Jackets fans we might have on the boards. The 2015 NHL draft is this coming Friday night I believe and the Jackets own the 8th overall pick. I'm hoping to see them take a defense-man as that's where they really struggled this past year.
Any other CBJ faithful have an opinion on what they would like to see the Jackets do in free agency, the draft, and what you want to see happen to their current roster, ect?
Personally I thought it was a damn shame how the injury bug hit the team this past season. Here's a really interesting statistic too: The CBJ were 22-1-2 when Boone Jenner, Brandon Dubinsky and Sergei Bobrovsky were in the lineup together this past season. That's scary to think about. What this team did at the end of the season when fully healthy, to finish 12-0-1 with virtually nothing to play for is a great sign for the future.
I absolutely cannot wait to see the team hit the ice again.

I bought the online package to watch, but once the injuries hit I lost interest.
I'm pumped for this season. We shouldn't have a huge injury bug again. Plus, we still have the top cop guarding our goal.

The way Marko Dano and Alexander Wennberg came on strong at the end of the season helps our depth. Those guys weren't playing very well early in the season and rightfully so given how young they are. Once considered a weakness the Jackets now actually have a surplus of forwards. The key is just keeping the core guys healthy. I cannot imagine the injury bug hitting nearly as bad next year.
I'm curious to see where David Clarkson gets put. His contract is too big to release, and the team went on a 12-0-1 run without him to end the year, where will he fit in?

the NHL: draft isn't like the NFL draft; it's rare that a guy picked out of the Top 5 can step in and play at the NHL level. It's happens, but it's not that common. If I were the Jackets sitting at 8, I'd take the BPA and obviously a player they really like.

Yeah.
I know what you mean. It's tough to get pumped for the draft if you're not picking inside of the top five.
If they can grab a good defensemen that can play NHL minutes in the next two years I would call that a win.
In other news: McElheinney was re-signed to a two year deal today!

Anybody keep an eye on the NHL draft on Friday and Saturday?
The Blue-Jackets now have the #6 ranked prospect pool per Bleacher Report.
They drafted Europe's #1 rated defenceman in Gabriel Carrlson (6'4 210 lbs).

Is he any good? Did you watch the playoffs?
Wow, he's a star.
He made so many key plays that I can remember at least 7 in my head right now. He's a stud. This hurts the Hawks badly.

5 mins later and I'm still stunned.
Columbus fans should be celebrating. Not just happy, celebrating.

I did a little lookup on his stats. Such a fantastic return for us. Why did they let him go? I'm giddy for him being on the same line as Ryan Johansen.

Salary cap casualty. I guess they felt this trade was better than losing him as a RFA (or dumping Sharp, losing Kruger, and not resigning Richards to find the money).
He's a very good two-way player with a ton of speed.

Really disappointed to see Marko Dano traded.
I really liked the kid, and I think Blackhawks fans will too.
Anisimov is a tough and gritty player too when healthy.
I'm excited for Brandon Saad though, he deff. makes the top six better.
Now if the CBJ can add a top four defencemen via free agency, look out...
