Thank god we didn't draft this guy, I can see this foot issue being a problem for a long time. I actually wanted us to draft him as many did on this board. Missing all of camp due to an injury is gonna screw his whole 1st year in my opinion. Just makes me wonder about all the smack talk from his mom etc that they definitely didn't want any AFC north weather.

Please post at least a link when starting a thread such as this. Miami Dolphins' DeVante Parker has foot surgery By Kevin Patra Around the NFL writer Published: June 5, 2015 at 10:45 a.m. Updated: June 5, 2015 at 01:54 p.m. DeVante Parker had been the story of Miami Dolphins OTAs for his ability to snatch footballs out of the air. Now the rookie receiver is making news for a more concerning reason. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Friday that Parker had undergone successful foot surgery, according to a team source. He is expected to be ready for the season opener against the Redskins. The team later confirmed the news. Parker missed part of his senior season at Louisville after needing foot surgery. Per Rapoport, Friday's surgery was performed to replace the screw inserted last year. The decision to undergo surgery was a collaborative one between Parker, his agent Jimmy Gould, Parker's parents and the Dolphins. Per the Miami Herald, the procedure was precautionary and if it were the regular season he'd be playing this week. Parker flashed a wide catch-radius, good hands and willingness to go after every throw during OTAs. His potential alongside Jarvis Landry within Bill Lazor's offense had Dolphins fans salivating. The Dolphins are taking the long-term approach with Parker's health. Per Rapoport, the receiver is expected to begin training camp on the PUP list, but the focus is on the 2015 opener and indications are he'll be ready when games count in September. While overhauling the receiver corps this offseason, the Dolphins added depth with veteran Greg Jennings, who will now likely play a key role alongside Landry and Kenny Stills until Parker returns. Miami also has Rishard Matthews as insurance on the depth chart. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...as-foot-surgery

Not sure the injury is as devastating as you implied.

Yeah, the article says that he is having a screw replaced, not inserted for the 1st time.
I am sure it is a concern, nonetheless, but nowhere near as big a concern as it could have been.

That's a real shame for him and the Dolphins.
I bet his Mom says it's Cleveland's fault.

Can you imagine if Browns drafted Parker and fans finding out later he is not healthy? Farmer is getting the s__t kicked out of him for being stupid drafting an injured fourth rounder.
Mayle played on a bad football team. Parker played when Bridgewater was QB and did ok last year. It is hard not choosing Parker over Mayler. Could it be in the end Mayle is every bit as good as Parker? After all, other players drafted in middle rounds turn into successful players. Time will tell I guess.

It might be serious...I believe this is a Growth plate fracture. If so it will always be with him in his career. Us mere mortals it might not be a big deal - but he has to do some serious stuff on the balls of his feet putting a lot of pressure on that foot. Known as a Stress Fracture...if its on the Growth plate its a tough nut to crack.
In any case - I wish the kid well and he heals. And yes I'm glad we did not take him at #12 like many predicted in their Mocks.
Just one thing...and trust me its one clip I saw in camp. Mayle...if what I saw in the one clip holds true as the rule and not the exception...The kid has separation skills and this league is a league built on CBs pressing - not so much college. I'm yes HOPING this kid is going to turn out special...now if only he can catch (don't have a clue on his hands) hopefully they used some mad science to give him suction cups when he had surgery...lol
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

Vers, I don't believe "devastating" is what I wished to imply. Problematic is probably better term. A rookie WR with feet issues requiring a screw and the inability to practice after spending a 1st rd draft pick would have sent most Browns fans over the edge. I hope he heals up and has a good career BUT I'm glad we did not draft him.

Yes, problematic and concerning are the right words.
Sent us over the edge? I don't know. We drafted two stiffs last year and we are still here.
We drafted TRich and Weeds a few years ago and we are still here.
I think we have been more than tolerant.

Now I know why his mother was so happy he went to Miami instead od Cleveland. Its a well know fact that Miami has some of the best foot surgeons in the countryIn all seriousness, I do hope he heals up and has a fine a career, just not against us.
