Yahoo! Sports Indians place Westbrook on disabled list, recall Carmona May 7, 2007 CLEVELAND (AP) -- Indians pitcher Jake Westbrook was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday because of a strained left abdominal muscle, and the team called up Fausto Carmona to take his place in the rotation. The usually durable Westbrook left Wednesday night's game against Toronto in the second inning. Westbrook, 1-2 with a 7.90 ERA, hasn't been on the disabled list since 2002. The move is retroactive to Thursday. Carmona was sent to Triple-A Buffalo last Tuesday when Cliff Lee was activated from the disabled list. Cleveland didn't have room for Carmona in the rotation even though he went 2-1 with a 3.76 ERA in four starts. He started Monday against Baltimore. The Indians also recalled Edward Mujica from Triple-A Buffalo, where he did not allow a run in his first nine appearances and has a 2.84 ERA with six saves in 11 games. Jason Davis, who had a 4.76 ERA in eight appearances, was designated for assignment. --------------------------------------------------------------------- The Westbrook thing isn't a surprise, but to see Davis DFA'd caught me a little off guard. Don't get me wrong, I'm far from upset about it, but I didn't think it would happen this quickly. I really do like Mujica and his potential. I'm not 100% certain that he is ready, but he's had a nice year at Buffalo this far. Also, Indians are up 1-0 in the 4th inning right now of the series finale in Baltimore, going for the split. Fausto is looking pretty good again....

Davis was a stop gap until we got some real bullpen arms, and an occasional spot starter, nothing more. He wasn't great with detroit and hasn't been good since.
all that means is that we are that much better off right now, than last year.

Yeah, Davis has a pretty live arm, but he's just so inconsistent. If he hasn't figured it out by now, I'm not sure he will. Good move by the Tribe.

Davis is damaged goods. We've tried everything with him and he continues to blow his chance. No real loss.
Whatever happened to Billy Traber? I know he had Tommy John surgery but I thought he had real potential.

Traber pitched in 15 games last year for Washington (8 starts) with a 6.44 ERA. He's at AAA for Washington now (Columbus) and has a 1.50 ERA in 8 relief appearances. I always rooted for Traber. I remember him making reporters work for an interview where he wouldn't respond to anything that wasn't a question, like a reporter starting out with "Good game today, Billy". He simply wouldn't answer. I hope he makes a comeback, he's only 27 and left-handed, so he'll have a few more chances.

I'm glad we're done with the O's after today cause Hafner can't get a hit against these guys!
And check out Carmona! 7 IP, 7 H, 0 ER, BB, 2 K. His previous three outings are a combined 22 IP, 18 H, 5 ER, 5 BB, 5 K and should have won all three had it not been for that "blown save" in NY.

Carmona looks really good today. The main thing that sticks out to me though is his strike to ball ratio. It's sick, 70% strikes.
and now Pronk's up with the bases loaded for the second time in two innings.

Ok Punch, I'll give you a chance to take that back. Hafner just hit a grand slam. 9-1 tribe.
