we have tons of depth at OL. we could have gotten other needs taken care of. I don't disagree but you can never have too much depth at OL.... Mack goes down last year and our offense goes to hell.... Plus with Mack potentially walking.... Not a horrible pick... Not what I expected though

At some point we need to start drafting skill positions or we won't able to score enough points to win.

Erving can play anywhere on the Line.. could be RT .. RG or Center
a very good pick... takes care of the OL weaknesses with one pick
very good day

Maybe we're going to switch him back to DL?

we have tons of depth at OL. we could have gotten other needs taken care of. We had pretty good depth at the Nose as well. We have three now. But hey, what does it matter? We don't have a quarterback, we have no pass rush..... we weren't going to win much no matter who we took. Is what it is.... As long as Farmer is GM we will never draft weapons.

I don't mind drafting OL at all, but just was never a fan of Cam. As someone else mentioned I never saw him dominate at any position. He can play any position sure, but is a guy who isn't great at any of them really worth the 19th overall selection??? Hope he proves me wrong.

Looks like he was projected as a 2nd round pick. The Browns didnt think he would be there?!?

Safe pick, BPA, nothing spectacular. Wanted Perriman.

so basically- our Entire OL is first round picks with one drafted early in the second round.

Any team would be nurting when losing one of the best centers in the league. Doesn't matter anyway. No quarterback means very few wins. No pass rush means very few wins. So taking a Guard is fine. He can learn the NFL and our new HC next year will have a guard/center that may or may not fit his scheme....

No we had crap at the nose. Phil has been a disappointment and never lived up to the pick in which he was selected....another H & H bust. Kitchens is a solid backup but isn't a starter.

I absolutely and completely hate this pick ..... this is a waste of a pick this year, and we are all but saying that we expect Mack to be gone next year, instead of trying to build and keep him.
Bleh. I think that's jumping to a conclusion regarding their reasoning. Erving can replace any position on the OL in case of injury. It covers a problem like we had when Mack went down. Or would be rather go through that again? He's a one-man OL depth. That lack of OL depth we've all been complaining about. I love this pick. He covers a multitude of bad luck issues that could come up with our OL. And he probably starts by mid-season at RT.

Farmer kept true to his WR valuing I guess...Really wanted Strong in a trade down or Algohor...
Well in round 2 tomorrow we can try to target TE Maxx Williams, OLB Eli Harold, or possibly one of the other pass rushers will fall..

About time for the annual, pittsburgh makes me angry by selecting a buckeye Bud Dupree. That's fine. I don't think he's good. I am hoping Eli Harrold drops to us in the second round.

He covers a multitude of bad luck issues that could come up with our OL. And he probably starts by mid-season at RT. A 1st round pick for depth? Is that really an argument on a team with so many dire needs? Sorry, don't buy it. I also question whether you "replace" a guy who you may be able to keep, a year before he even has to make that decision. We need weapons and difference makers. We had, when healthy, a top OL in the NFL last year. Should we have invested in the OL at some point in this draft? Sure. In the 1st round? Not a chance. We had far more pressing needs. Bud Dupree went to the Steelers, so we'll see who made the better pick, for years and years to come.

Good point I haven't thought of. I would trade Mack now if the offer was right. It is the only way this pick makes sense.

I claimed on here how I don't see Bud Dupree as a top 10 talent and thought he was overrated..however where the Steelers got him is pretty good value...I thought a pass rushing OLB was our biggest need on defense honestly
