Curious as to what people think that we (the human race) will die from. Disease, technology, rapture/Satan are all options and are open to discussions. Just really curious to see what people are going to say. Also, if you don't feel like the human race will ever die out, then share those ideas as well. I'll post my thoughts on this later unless someone is dying to hear my thoughts on how technology will kill us all

I don't think we will die. I think we will evolve to a point where we can't be classified as humans anymore.
We have too much of a thirst for more to die out, IMO. make no mistake, there will be space colonies. there will be colonies on different planets.

I believe that we will all be judged one day, and that judgment will end this earth.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

We are devo.
With all of the technology, we will be encumbered by the science that is able to to extend and compensate for life.
Thus we will no longer evolve, to improve the species, we will devo...

I don't know how "WE" will reach our end as a species. That discussion is too rich for my brain to absorb. I'm quite certain that my own exit from this plane of existence will predate Man's extinction.
That's why I have already chosen my 'exit strategy' (if My Wife precedes me in death).
When I'm too old to go on- and life has become a burden I can no longer endure....
1. I'll pack what I can into my Jansport D-3 ("Old Skool Tech," yo-) 2. I'll use my passport one last time to go to My Sacred Place in Canada. 3. I'll stumble around, use up my provisions, then live off the land/grid for as long as I can. 4. I'll die at the time/place/manner that Mother Nature chooses for me. Fight the good fight until the bitter end... and leave my 'corporeal goods' behind, to nourish the locals.
___________
If I die first, I'll be cremated. My Wife knows to gather My Tribe for one last sojourn. They'll accompany her to that same place, and witness her spreading my ashes in my Power Place.
Then, they'll form a tight circle around a small, hot fire... and smoke to my memory, in the old Shawnee tradition. They will share the stories of their times with me that made each of them laugh. They will extinguish the fire, say these words: "We loved you, Bobby"...
...and accompany My Wife home- to her new life without me.
It's already been arranged. We all know what to do.
That's how Nenothtu O'Kimah 'Hawk That Sings' plans to exit Life.
For one event, My Tribe will be united, once again- like we were when The Journey began for all of us.
yeah... I got plans.

Robert Frost, my favorite poet by a long shot, sums it up precisely
Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I’ve tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice.
It's one of the deepest poems I've encountered because "fire" and "ice" can represent SO many different paradoxes ... from geographic aspects to moral choices to human desires

Wow!!! I never considered that, but you may very well be right. It is a scary thought to think that "evolution" will be artificial rather than natural...

I believe in mankind's pursuit for knowledge and technological advancements enough to think we'll eventually reach other habitable planets and colonize those before Earth expires billions of years down the road. Humans will be spread all throughout the galaxy and possibly the universe at some point, making it difficult for us to become extinct. It's weird to think about, how they'll read about Earth in their history books. At this point, I don't think we can begin to fathom what kind of greatness our species is truly capable of.

Will we die out as a species? Probably not, and I have several reasons why.
We know that in our past, during the last ice age, our species dwindled to about 10,000. That is a huge bottleneck in the genetic line, and we still managed to survive. This is because we are the most adaptable species on the planet. We live on 6 of 7 continents, and in every climate available.
Will we suffer huge disasters and loss of life? This is the most likely. This can happen in many ways, including supervolcanos, meteor strikes, disease, and vast climate change (not this global warming crap, but another ice age or significant, sudden change).
I watch Ancient Aliens, and while I don't believe aliens helped our ancestors, I do believe that our species was more technologically advanced in the past than we are now. If you look at folklore over the world, just about every culture has a 'great flood' myth. This might have to do with the end of the last ice age or some other catastrophe in our past. I also consider the stories of Atlantis and it's fall. Is it possible that we get so technologically advanced that we can lose the knowledge of how to make things? Just about everyone knows what steel is, but how many know how to make it? If there is a significant solar EMP blast, how many people die from there being no clean water, food in the grocery store, or gas for the cars? How many people will be able to relearn the lost arts of farming, hunting, clothes making, shoe making, etc?
I think we are more likely to suffer a major culling of the herd than a mass extinction. This will probably be due to disease or an unforseen calamity. We are primed for the disease scenario right now, as our species travels world wide. Oddly enough, this also tends to innoculate us against diseases to which we are exposed and survive. All it takes is one virulent disease.

From negative cognitive and physical development due to too much time chatting on forums?
I try to avoid those thoughts because of emotions about my family, but I've always thought nature would be involved.
Humans are part of nature and it's possible human activity could lead to it's own extinction.

Scientist know that our Sun will start to run out of fuel in about 4B years. It will expand at a rapid rate and consume Earth before ultimately collapsing. So if we haven't killed ourselves by then or moved off somewhere else...It's a scientific certainty that the Earth is doomed.

First: Scientists say that only one in a thousand species that have ever lived survives today. The other 99.9 percent are extinct, gone forever. With few exceptions, the life span of individual species is short by geological standards, on average between 2 and 10 million years. No matter how well adapted a creature has been to its environment, history has shown that even the most dominant can be wiped away. Link to the entire Article With that fact the question becomes not if but when will we as a species go extinct. We should survive any earthbound extinction level event due to the fact that we are in space and have somebody on the space station even if only in very small numbers. Now if something more on the galactic or universal scale were to happen we'd be screwed. Then we have disease which is much more likely. We have new diseases popping up from time to time, old diseases that we struggle to survive coming back and of course the worst disease of all.... STUPIDITY. Arrogance, Greed, Naivety, Laziness or our Resistance to Change all wrapped up in the bubble of stupidity that we choose to exist in will most likely be our undoing. Mankind is without a doubt it's own worst enemy. Aliens, God (if you believe) or any other superior life form intentionally causing our extinction is highly unlikely IMHO. This would dictate that they require a reason and need to to so... can't even begin to imagine a legitimate reason or need for that. Now a lessor life form such as a virus, bacteria, fungi or the evolution of some kind of predator or parasite; that could be a viable end. So my answer to the question has to be that it will be Mankind that brings about our own extinction.

Greed. Greed will end civilization. Our air, water and environment as we know it is being destroyed because of the greed of man. I see none of that changing until the bitter end.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Alright, I know this thread is about death which is a downer but all these posts about Man destroying the Earth and stuff needs to be addressed...
The World According To 40.
The Earth is nothing more than a medium sized turd floating around in space. The only, yes only thing that makes Earth special is the fact that Man is floating around on it. We are the only creatures that have ever been able to appreciate her grandeur. We sing songs about her, we write stories about her and we walk about in awe of her beauty. All the other creatures before us could only eat her and eat the other creatures on her and then they would take a dump on her. Man is what makes the Earth special. Man will someday use his technology to divert an asteroid that would have killed her. Earth is about Man. Earth is nothing more than our ride as we travel the Universe, which by the way is also a turd without Man.
Peace and Love all, hope none of you die.

That is up to God, He makes the appointment ... HEBREWS 9:27 "And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment."

If we cannot perfect the ability for interstellar travel our sun will eventually run out of fuel and turn into a Red Giant, when that happens all life on earth whether humans still remain or not will die.
Humans are too spread out and intelligent to die off from a disease IMO. Science will find a cure or at least protect the non-infected humans, also for a disease to cover the entire globe in every corner is tough to imagine.
No we will either die out from some form of Nuclear winter (natural occurring or due to global war) which will stop food production for most of the Earth or something happening with our Sun.

gonna be completely different.
I for one would love to see us that far in the future. would be epic to see what kinda of shenanigans we have gotten into.

Statistically speaking, to exist, each one of us has defied odds that are mind-boggling enormous. These odds-against could not even be calculated. To have life, we have either had help or we have each won the lottery jackpot 1 million times without ever picking a single, wrong number.
When such odds are defied on Earth, we know something more is at play. We ain't that lucky. We've got help. And when its needed, it will be there for us.

I think a few things can be said about this topic with certainty:
It is certain that a time will come again, just like 65 million and 250 million years ago, that a catastrophic event will lead to the mass extinction of most animals on earth (and will include man).
Man will be gone If he hasn’t achieved self-sustaining colonies on other planets.
For man to achieve self-sustaining colonies on other planets, there would have to be a long-term, stable, global society and unified global economy here on earth.
This has been well known for a long time and why there’s been such a push to involve as many other countries as possible in the shuttle missions and the space station.
I don’t think the US can do it alone. And I don’t see a planet-wide coalition for this purpose being achievable.
My knee-jerk reaction is Hasta Luego.
