Michael Boulware.

Sure I'm looking ahead but in two years we face the Colts who could put Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, Ant Gonzalez, and Dallas Clark on the field, all spread out, and still hand it to a stud back in Joe Addai. Likewise, Pitts can run out of the spread effectively.

Our main subpackage is that LeBeau dime ( 3 safeties, 3 corners). With Russell now gone we're looking at, possibly, Hamilton coming in on the backline and Pool taking back over his dime-linebacker spot (not unlike the way the Steelers use Polamalu). This doesn't give us as much flexibility as we could have.

Certainly, the Seahawks see Boulware's value as that dime-linebacker/ special teams demon (if they don't then maybe this guy gets cut out of camp).

Anyway, in the future, I'd go after this guy to shore up our dime package and give us the ability to cover a spread out offense and still have strength against the run. Seemed like played dime defense 30-40% of the time last year. Just was thinking about the Colts in two years and thought I'd post.

On a side note. I used to work with a guy that grew up in South Carolina. He was the corner opposite Beasley at WVU in the 90s. Bounced around the league. I was talking to him about Boulware when he entered the draft out of FSU. My buddy said he used to beat the s out of Michael growing up.

I would prefer Terrelle Suggs who hits free agency next year (provided he isn't re-signed).

I don't think he re-signs though, I think he wants to test the big money market... and his talent as a 3-4 pass rushing OLB... he's gonna get paid. May as well be here

Wimbley on one side, Terrelle Suggs on the other. Not too shabby.

Joe - I'm a Seahawks season ticket holder - this will be my 5th year in a row. I've seen this kid from day 1 on the team, and I agree with you as per considering him.

To correct you, though, he's played safety pretty much exclusively, not dime lb. If I recall, he's played both safety positions (and maybe dime lb, maybe cb too,, but limited), and played SS while Hamlin was out. From what I've read, he's slated to be the starter at SS this season. He won't be cut out of camp, I guarantee you that - unless of course he gets into trouble.

PPE - oh yeah, Suggs and Wimbley would be awesome. Remember, we'll have some extra cash to spend this offseason by not having a 1st rounder and having Quinn signed likely to a 5 year 10m contract (based on ~20% increase from #22 last year). This is a side benefit to the trade that I really haven't seen posted (at least not from what my feeble mind recalls).

I was more projecting Boulware as a dime linebacker. He played Will linebacker at FSU and was moved to safety by the Seahawks as you know. But he was benched in favor of Jordan Babineaux.

If he can't hack it as traditional safety, I thought he'd perfect for our dime defense with the added bonus that he could fill in in spots should an injury arise. I believe this kid was a second round pick.

I like Justin Hamilton's potential in our dime package. The guy's about 6-3/220 and used to be a RB and is very athletic. Mike Adams is probably at that spot right now, but Hamilton is raw and will probably be a starting SS in the NFL in a couple years. It's a good problem to have when you've got 4 safeties who all should see the field a lot. Helps out with all of our youth at corner.

keylime, I agree with you, Justin Hamilton looks good from what little I've seen him play. I like his motor and the fact that he's usually around the ball/play. kinda reminds me of Russell.

Suggs would be a hell of a pickup, that guy's a monster. we'll have plenty of cap to throw an offer his way next year

We're trying to throw the ball downfield and he checked the ball down to Trent Richardson and the Indians on the choice.
