He is a TE but really a big WR, Devin Funchess may be on our radar for a pass catching tight end to replace Cameron.

He is a pass Catching TE...the fact he and his agent are insisting WR is the Graham factor when he was franchised tagged and tried to get the WR status instead of TE moot point now but at the time it was important. He came into the league as a TE so had to be classed as a TE.

Funchess would play the same role as Graham and Cameron - just now if he is ever tagged in the future it will be as a WR not a TE.

I'll admit I'm definitely an OSU homer but for whatever reason Funchess reminds me of Mike Williams, good to great college career but will struggle in the NFL to get open and as a TE he is unwilling to block. I don't have facts on that but that is what they were saying on NFL radio, he started as a TE at Michigan and was moved to WR because he was unwilling or wasn't an effective blocker at the TE position. I don't know that for sure just repeating what I heard on the radio.

I like him because he is a tweener who could play either position TE or WR..and as a TE he is a matchup problem for the defense...tall and physical.

He can play TE only if you are ok with a TE who cannot block. He absolutely, under no circumstance, can play WR though. Too slow, too bulky, doesn't run good enough routes.

you had a good run Hank.

CBS Sports lists him as the 11th ranked WR, comparing him to Kelvin Benjamin (even though he is considerably slower than Benjamin). I just wonder how a WR gets separation when he runs a 4.70 Forty at the Combine. That's slower than the top 3-4 TEs. Other sites list him as the #1 ranked TE, even though he only weighs 232 lbs, and apparently is not a good blocker. Is he a "tweener" or a "neither"?

How often does a receiver line up in a sprinter's stance? Supposedly, his problem at the combine was his start, and he timed much better at his pro day. It's hard for me to overlook my distaste for TTUN, but Manziel does like his big-bodied receivers. I still think I'd rather take Darren Waller from Georgia Tech later to fill the role.

I'm underwhelmed by Funchess. Mainly because he has a problem dropping the ball. He doesn't give you much beyond token blocking effort. He's from TSUN!

If you want this type of player and I do want this "type" I think the better value will be Darren Waller, WR, 6'6", 238LBS, 4.46 combine 40. Production was limited by that quirky Georgia Tech offense. On the flip side of that WRs have to block and do it often in that offense. He might last until round 4.
