Who was the only Browns starter in the last 30 years to not play college football?

Maybe you know it without the internet.

Googling was hard but accomplished. There maaay? be multiple answers?

I would imagine a kicker?

I would think we had a tight end basketball player or a soccer kicker at some time

A non-kicker.

Regular positional player.

On defense. Started 4 years for the Browns.

Never played a single college football down.

Seems hard to believe someone could start on an NFL Defense without ever playing college football.

Dick Deschaine was the Punter in '58. He did not attend college.


now I see in last 30 years...I shall keep searching

Bobby Jones was a Brown in '83. Listed as a WR...still outside the 30 years

a Practice Squad player in '06 - Ulrich Winkler

Sam Clancy '85-'88

Played basketball at Pitt, then played 11 NFL Seasons

Touchdown...PA!

I was starting to wonder if any Browns fans read this board.

Though Ben Gay and Ulrich Winkler were really, really good guesses.

Man, I knew it was a DE, in that general era, I don't know why I was thinking Reggie Camp, but at least I got the era right.

Jerry Kauric is another guy from the Browns with no college experience. Kicker in 1990.
