Doesn't matter soon after Hoyer went on his 1 TD 8 INT run with many losses to see us fade away from Playoff contention. Complete reversal. At the time he was right on the edge of getting Dalton money...then he blew that Cash Cow along with our season.

thanks for the article ytown. it read exactly as i thought it would read. brian never said he wanted a contract in the range of what dalton got. it was league sources saying he wanted a contract in the range of what dalton got.

We obviously disagree - but its probably not by that much. It's about degrees, and maybe its just expanding on the details and assumptions:
I think he has absolutely earned a shot at starting. His starts early in 2013 and 2014 were very good - I have serious question marks about his play as the season progressed, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt for many reasons. It's not a shoe in, but I have a little hope that he can be average or better for a full season. I disagree 100% with someone who said Hoyer needs to be surrounded by studs to be over average ... other then the OL - when has Hoyer been surrounded by studs?
What's a realistic yearly salary and commitment? He's not going to get close to $10 mill a year. He's not going to get a salary cap killing contract ... any contract he gets will probably be fairly painless to dump if that's the way it goes. Just look at Dalton - he got a HUGE deal - but it's structured so that its basically a yearly contract that the Bengals can get out of reasonably easily - and Hoyer wont get remotely close to that sort of money.
All the other QB's on your list are going to get similar-ish money to Hoyer (IMO).... based on a similar contract, I'll stick with Hoyer. I'd even overpay (see above - overpaying won't put the team in cap hell - even if its 10-15% over these other guys).
I agree you can pick some of Hoyers games (or even take the last 6 games) and say it was putrid. As much as I was pimping Hoyer to be given a chance, after the Bufallo game I thought it was time to see if JM was going to be the guy moving forward. Revisionist posters on here want to blame the coaches for starting JM when he was so bad - but JM had one drive in the Buffalo that probably gave most fans a boost and encouraged everyone enough to hope for a while. . . But I still believe that 'better the devil you know' ... I think Hoyer is a safer pick than picking one of the other QB's on your list - and safer/better placed to win games in 2015 than a rookie will be. . . . But it really seems to be a moot point as I dont see the team resigning Hoyer. So I hope I am wrong about my assessment!!

Yep ... it was probably a slow news day in the NFL so someone was speculating. Someone else quoted another journalists. Those that don't like Hoyer assumed it must be true (the other story at the time was that Hoyer wasn't going to sign if he had to compete with JM .... which was another total nonsense story that some on the forums latched onto) .....

Yep. However, it shows where his head was as far as money goes.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.

The league source could have been Micheal "Pay the Man" Irvin or was that Dion "Pay the Man" Sanders?
