The state has dismissed all charges against Carolina Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy. Hardy was convicted last year for assaulting and threatening to kill ex-girlfriend Nicole Holder, but Hardy's appeal — which was set to start Monday — was settled when she refused to work with prosecutors. The district attorney told the judge in the case that officials' attempts to reach Holder were unsuccessful. The DA said Hardy reached a civil suit agreement with Holder. Hardy and his attorney left the courthouse without making a statement or answering questions. Hardy, 26, played only one game for the Panthers in 2014 after being placed on the commissioner's exempt list. It appears the team, despite the dismissal, will move on from Hardy, who is a free agent after playing last season on the franchise tag for $13.1 million. Still some team is likely to show strong interest for one of the league's top pass rushers available this offseason, despite his troubles. The NFL has yet to complete its review of the case and still could opt to suspend Hardy for six games — the new standard for domestic abuse cases in the league — if it chooses. But Hardy's future in the NFL looks a lot brighter now than it did before court on Monday. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdo...-153020266.htmlHardy is an OLB who carried the Franchise Tag this past season. If he can get reinstated.. he would be a good FA defensive pick up.

I hate it when people get bought off, so they drop criminal charges. (and that sure looks like what happened here) They settled her civil suit against him, and suddenly the DA can't get in touch with her.
He's a great player .... but I wonder if he is a suspension waiting to happen under the new rules.

I'd steer clear if I were a GM
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Someone gained a lot of money... and someone lost a lot of money. That's what happens when you got deep pockets and I'd bet anything almost someone was paid off.

no offense but for some reason i now have a hard time believing females and athletes.
far too often a bunch of them settled for money, which means either they weren't interested in justice in the first place, or it never happened.
it sucks that dude missed the entire season plus the playoffs, just for this to happen.
maybe athletes should start wearing body cams like cops.

Sounds like he paid her to not show up. Not shocking too. And it also makes sense the charges are dropped...if you don't have a witness, you don't have a case.
He's probably got a 6-game suspension looming next season.
I know he's got a ton of baggage and a suspension hanging over his head too, but I'd think about signing him on the cheap. He's allowed a second chance. Dude has a HIGH motor and has a lot to prove.

I don't get how his appeal was tossed out, unless they somehow appealed on the grounds that her testimony was bad, or something. He was convicted of the crime, and then won his appeal because he paid her off. Yeah, that stinks to high heaven.

I agree, because they already have her testimony from the original trial, this stinks to high heaven and for the average person there is no way this happens.
