Just wondering what you guys think is gonna happen to Frye now that Quinn is in the fold. The most likely scenario IMO is that he's traded before the end of the weekend, seeing as how he can't really add anything as far as mentorship goes.

But what if there aren't any takers? Do we cut him? Do we try to keep him on as a backup?

I see him starting this season but then becoming the backup.

You have to start him THIS year.

Hopefully, he improves and we can trade him when BQ is ready. If not, he becoes our career backup, we come to know and love.

I really want to see Charlie succeed. If he takes us to the playoffs, who knows what will happen. Maybe this will motivate him to work harder and play better this year

I would trade him and our 4th to get back into round 2 or another 3rd rounder.

I think alot of that depends on how Frye handles Quinn being drafted..

I mean, if he goes out there and wins the job this season, then he's our starter and continues to be until he someone takes the job away from him.

If he whines (I don't expect charlie to be a whiner at all), and starts to be a distraction,,, then he's gotta go..

Charlie is going to be faced with something he's really never had to face before.. real competition for the starting job.

I think his first year was a no brainer.. Dilfer was going to be the starter no matter what.. Dilfer gone in the second year and it's really not surprising that
Frye beat out Anderson and Dorsey.

But now it's gonna be Brady Quinn,, young, highly touted, life long Browns Fan and relatively local (columbus)..

Both guys have deep roots with the Browns,,, Quinn has the pedigree,,, Frye is the underdog...

All I can say is this... if both of them keep thier heads, it's gonna be a WHOLE LOTTA FUN to watch...

One can only hope that the Frye - Quinn thing turns into the Brees - Rivers situation. Breese looked like a 2nd round bust until Rivers put a light under him. Let's hope that Quinn does the same to Frye.

The best thing we could say this time next year is "What are we going to do with Quinn?"

from what i've read frye is a good teammate. if he lives up to that he's a brown.

anything that keeps ken dorsey and derek anderson off the field is VITAL

Frye has to be traded now. No way Frye makes it past the first play in practice before fans start calling for Quinn. It will be a horrible situation. Might as well trade Frye now.

Hopefully Savage didn't blow it like he did with Boller with this move to get Quinn.

Keep him as a backup I think.

Let him go in as the starter this year and then eventually get Quinn in there.

Then keep Frye as the backup for the duration. Unless he wants to move on.

I agree.....or the other group calls for frye....we have to dump him by tomorrow.

I doubt Frye wants to be a backup in Cleveland. NFL players want to be starters not backups. When Quinn get's the nod over Frye as the starter then I'm betting Frye will want out of Cleveland.

Might as well trade Frye now.

Yea, however Frye is a Browns fan and likes the Browns obviously. Hopefully he'll stay out of loyalty.

I personally would like Frye to be the man this year. If he can prove he is the starter behind a solid line, Quinn should have to take the job from him if he can. I think this is a great pick and it will only make us more competitive in the long run. May the best QB win. IMO most of you are counting Charlie out too soon.

Mensa says he hopes Savage didn't blow it like the Ravens did with Boller, but wants Frye gone.. Peen wants Frye gone to avoid fighting between fans..

YIKES, Gentleman, those are the wrong reasons to let Frye get out the door..

Now if he comes into Berea and stomps his feet and whines about the Browns picking Quinn, then he either needs to have a "come to Jesus" meeting with RAC and Savage where they explain what's what,,, and he accepts it, or THEN he needs to go..

But I don't see Charlie being that kinda kid,, Actually, I see it as something that will challenge him.

He had the 17th best QB rating in the 2nd half of last year. So I'm guessing 15 other NFL teams.

I want Frye gone because there is zero positives in keeping him now. The fans want Quinn and will cheer when Frye gets hurt like they did when Couch got hurt. Fans will be calling for Quinn to start the entire season making the entire season a circus.

You don't draft a QB in the 1st round and give them 1st round money to sit the bench. Obviously Quinn is the future so what's the point in keeping Frye. Let's just hope Savage didn't just trade away next years first round pick for another Kyle Boller.

I was never very high on Quinn and think he's going to have an Eli Manning type career.

Ya, because he missed half of that period -- the last quarter of the season...

#1 He gets to sit the bench and learn the playbook by heart
#2 work on his footwork.
#3 Well heck that is 2 more than zero right there.

I do not agree that fans will boo until Charlie gets hurt then cheer.
Because I will boo if charlie has to run for his life every game all game long.
So until then I think Quinn should have to "TAKE" the job from CF.

And I do not get it. Who do you want for a QB? You want Charlie gone . And you are not keen on Quinn. Well who then?
Last and least Eli Manning is going to be a solid QB. Just not like his brother. But I could be wrong. I am alot.

He played 7 games in that 10 game stretch that I'm talking about. The Browns went 3-4. And Frye ranked 17th out of 36 QB's. But nice try.

Big Bob Barker, if you think Frye or Anderson is going to stick around Cleveland past 2008 then you are naive. You can say bye, bye to both now, because I doubt either one will want to be on the same team with Mr Hollywood.

I think Frye is enough of a Browns fan that he will accept 2nd string if he knows Quinn beat him out. I also feel the Frye will be our savior one game when Quinn can't start.

You are living in a fantasy world. Do you think Quinn is enough of a Browns fan to accept 2nd string for the rest of his career?

Face it, Frye's going to want out of here the day they hand the starting job over to Quinn.

Maybe a team with a good o-line. I'm sure Quinn will be given every opportunity that Frye wasn't. Brady Quinn is not a great Qb but most of you will never admit it.

Mensa, that's what I'm saying... to do something like that because of what the fans may or may not do is about a dumb as anything under the sun,... DUMB,,

You get rid of a player when he no longer can help your team when called upon to do his job,,, or if he's a Distraction to the TEAM,, Fans be damned,,,

IMO Charle should start this season, there is no reason to throw Quinn into the fire and have him beat to death yet. I am a firm believer in a rookie QB sitting a couple years to watch and learn before they start.

i agree 100% those are the wrong reasons to get rid of a guy...

first off we have no idea how quinn will do...he could be great, he could get hurt...or he could suck...

and while i understand where peen is coming from, that only happens if we stuggle...i mean would anyone care if we sat quinn and won with frye? i know i wouldn't....

on top of that, frye would be a fine backup...why destroy your depth, cause fans might act up....winning solves that...and i don't care who's behind center....

fact is both of these guys got alot to learn...we can easily have a great qb and a good backup....why mess that up....

I think we keep him through camp.

Can't just ASSume BQ is going to be a stud. Go through camp--preseason---may the best man win. Then we have a starter and a back-up.

Dumping him now would kinda be like that old cliche. Don't count yer chickens before they've hatched.

Which is why Savage said were glad to get the QB a year earlier so he can learn this year while next year if we waited until 2008, we will already have our QB ready to go.

Oh, forgive me. I didn't realize that the season was 20 games long and that the NFL had 36 teams.

The truth is, over the last 8 games of the season (the definition of "last half"), Frye was 1-3, threw no more than ONE TD in any of those games, was SHUT-OUT in three of those games (no TDs at all), and threw 5 INTERCEPTIONS.

But ya, you're right -- he was a great QB during that period.

As well, you seem to be the Quinnephobe around here. I haven't heard Frye or Anderson say anything about wanting to jump ship now that a real QB has arrived.

It's unfortunate that his good looks and presentability make you so uncomfortable.

None of them will admit it because it would make them sound foolish or dumb, but there probably are a few that want Frye gone just in case we do win with him,,, that would make them wrong,,,

Sucks to be them,,,

I think that he should start from day one...

Why?

We got our franchise Left Tackle.

Theres a new offensive system going in place that Frye and Quinn will both have to learn.

Quinn is already better IMO than Frye.

Unless they get a solid Veteran then Charlie needs to start. Like San Diego did with Brees and Rivers. But if the Browns can get a guy like Trent Green then bye bye Frye.

I don't want to see Quinn until Joe T and the rest of the OL get at least 8 games under their belt.I'm not all that convinced that we've seen the best of CF. Last year the line breakdowns gave Charlie little chance. I'd like to see us give Frye a little more time to prove himself while BQ learns the ropes. If Charlie comes through he'll net us a lot more than than a late pick .Who knows maybe we'd luck into a Schaub type deal. Charlie strikes me as a tough competitor that just might make it. Charlies arm worries me but he's got the heart of a champion. How can you not like this kid? I wouldn't be in a hurry to throw the baby out with the bath water.
