Hey,

Anyone here have Dragon Age Inquisition? Just wondering how you guys feel about it.

It's the next game on my list I'm interested in. I grabbed Metro Redux and my buddy is giving me Assassin's Creed: Black Sails. Haven't played Black Sails, I'm on the first Metro and have gotten bored. It's pretty lame. I don't know what's going on and It's a pain to figure out where I'm going. I'm hoping the second Metro is better. I just haven't gotten into the story or the game at all. The idea is cool (society in the Moscow Metro), but beyond that, I just don't get what the hype was in the game.

But I've always liked the Dragon Age Inquisition games, so I think I'm going to grab it.

My main question comes down to the weapons in Dragon Age Inquisition. Do enemies drop loot and do you find loot in chests? Can you craft weapons as well, and put runes, etc. on them? Is it one of those types of games ALA Diablo, Skyrim , or is it more like that other Dragon Age game where you never changed your weapon.

Can different chracters use different weapon types or are they stuck on those weapons?

And I would assume, but am I safe to, that the players level up using some sort of level up tree like other RPG's? Is this the case?

That sucks about Metro. I bought the redux bundle a couple of months ago when it released and still haven't opened it yet. My excitement level dipped a bit after your review.

I'm also curious about Dragon Age. I don't usually get into RPGs because they're way too involved for my likes, but this one piques my interest for some reason. You should subscribe to EA Access ($5/month or $30/year) and get a free 6-hour trial of the full game and see if it's what you're looking for. If it is, you can then buy it digitally for $53.99.

I got it for Christmas, but time restraints won't allow me to play it until the 4th (Boo social commitments). Will tell you exactly how I'm feeling about it though once I do.

I just got it for a Christmas gift so I am not real far yet. If you liked the other DAs then you will like it. You do get loot, can craft weapons, armor and upgrades. I will say it is a lot bigger than the others and a lot more in depth.

It has a tactical camera you can use in combat which gives it a more strategy-esque way to play. The areas are huge compared to the previous games. And yes there are skill trees when you level up.

I like it better than the others so far, so I would definitely go for it. Lemmy on the other hand, if other RPGs intimidate you then I would shy away, they say there is easily over 100 hrs. of gameplay.

I have it and Like it alot. It is a huge open world with 100 hours to play per character. I have been playing for weeks and I don't think I have scratched a dent in it (granted don't have the time to really seriously game)

Do enemies drop loot and do you find loot in chests?

yes, they drop and you find stuff in chests

Can you craft weapons as well, and put runes, etc. on them?

The good weapons drop from my mobs, but you can craft items and add runes. Weapons are better from enemies and gear is better when you craft it.

Is it one of those types of games ALA Diablo, Skyrim , or is it more like that other Dragon Age game where you never changed your weapon.

I would say more like Skyrim, you upgrade your weapons all the time. I never played the other Dragon Ages but I think its cool you can play the other classes in your group. You can switch weapons/jewellery/gear as long as the other charcter can use it.

I got mine from Amazon for $40. Check Slickdeals.net they always report the best deals on video games.

I like it alot.

JC: For Everyone

Thanks for the info.

I think I'm just gonna start playing the game right away.

My best buddy is giving me the Assassin's Creed Game, which I probably should have held off from (and just gotten for PS3 or something, so I can play it on the tugboat I work on), but I might just let him keep it (or keep it in the box for now) so I'm gonna just play Inquisition. I'd just like a good videogame, and something different than the First Person Shooters I've played so much of lately

Hopefully this will hold my attention for the next two weeks (before I head back to work out on the seas)

let me know how you like Dragon's Age - I have been looking at getting if for my kids - who love the Oblivion / Skyrim games, as well as AC. They love open concept games where you can just roam around and do stuff w/o having to stick to a rigid story line..

I'm really enjoying it. It seems to have gone back up in price to 60$ on Amazon. I got mine for 40$. I opened it today and probably put in about 5 hours.

I'm not sure why, but I still think Skyrim is better. I've played Oblivion and hated it. I quickly moved on from that. I think the menus and item system in Skyrim might have been better.

Visually, it's very good. I have it for PS4, and I'd say it's pretty on par with Destiny.

Gameplay wise, it's pretty good. I'm getting the hang of it. While the controls and abilities you can do with your character aren't at the level of say the Witcher series, there's definitely something to it. And depending on your character, you can pause a battle, instruct your party members who to attack/what to do. That's something sorta new to me.

It's pretty open world as well.

I feel like there aren't as many people to talk to as Skyrim, but it's still pretty good.

I didn't like Oblivion though. And I haven't played Assassins Creed since the first three Assassins Creeds (the ones before Assassins Creed 3).

If you have a Gamestop close by, I'd recommend grabbing it pre-owned. You have 7 days to return it, and if they like the game, they can return it and grab a new copy. I do that with most new games I'm unsure of (and all short games). It's their rules, not mine, and I don't play through games more than once, so I'm not gonna pay full money for a game I'm going to get 10-12 hours out of. Just buy it pre-owned, put the receipt right in the box, and count out a week. Return it within a week and they'll take it back. Just say you want a brand new copy instead of used (or say you didn't like it).

I'm with you, i hated oblivion. I love Skyrim, LOVED Skyrim.

I have Dragon age, I am pretty deep into it. It's definitely worth the money. I was very disappointed in Shadows of mordor.

My only complaint is that you are stuck with what you pick. I liked in Skyrim that I could be an Orc, but could still level my mage skills so my magic was strong. In Dragon age, if you pick an Archer.....you're an archer....

Also the fight scenes get a little repetitive, but overall the storyline is good and the "epic cut scenes" are fantastic. The graphics and the cut scenes are way better than skyrim.

Shadows of Mordor was good, but had no replay value IMO. Similar to the batman games. I liked the storyline, and it's a fun world. Some of the missions were fun, some were repetitive (like the inFamous series). But the game was only so long, and once beaten, I saw no reason to play it again.

I bought it pre-owned, beat it, and returned it within a week to get my money back. Not many people have this luxury, but with my job, I work for a month and get a month off. And I don't have any children yet. So I can put in a lot of time gaming in a short amount of time.

But yeah. That is annoying about the Dragon Age games, but at least you get to change weapons in this one verses I think Dragon Age 2 where you were stuck with what you got. I'm waiting for a new Rogue to show up, so that I can replace Varric for someone else who can use all the different bows I pick up.

Agreed. The Mordor ending was beyond annoying. It was fun until i got leveled and then it was too easy and repetitive and god the ending.....

I picked a mage when I first started playing dragon age. I was getting owned so I changed to an archer.

I typically role with Blackwall, Vivienne and Iron Bull. Archer, healer and two warriors.

Definitely see what you're saying about Shadows of Mordor. Like the batman games, they start off as a bit of a challenge. Then you start leveling up, you figure out your moves/get in a pattern, and you end up pretty darn unstoppable.

I will say that while the ending was garbage, leading up to the end was great. The missions where you had to start converting folks (don't wanna spoil it) were kind of tricky. Esp. when you're in strongholds and getting chased down but hundreds of Orcs.

As for Dragon Age, in 3 days i'm 22 hours in. Today I'm not gonna play as much because my g/f and I have a Groupon to spend on dinner and we have to get over to the Field Museum/Adler Planetarium in Chicago because they're free (one day thing, get down on it!). But man, I'm absolutely addicted. I'm already waking up a little early so that I have time to do a couple missions.

I'm still early in the game, I've mostly been screwing around, doing all the missions in the Hinterlands. I chose being a warrior because I like the weapons and armor and find they usually have the best of that stuff. But when I'm bored I'll just play as another party member (love that about the Dragon Age games!!)

So my party is Maxwell (myself), Sara, Solas, and Cassandra. I can use Verric, Blackhand (think that's his name), and Cole; but I hate how you can't change weapons with Verric (if you're gonna have him use a bow). Cassandra is sort of like my right hand lady. She's staying for now
