So XB1 is going to allow you to stream your TV shows over your network using smart glass. This will allow me to get rid of cable box! Can't wait until it hits the US. PS4 might be selling more but XB1 gets a major update every month and every month it seems we are getting better useful features. So happy I got my XB1 ____ Microsoft is kicking off its press event at Gamescom today by announcing some significant improvements to the TV experience for Xbox One owners. Preview users will soon get access to a streaming TV feature on the Xbox One, allowing you to watch TV on a Windows, iOS, or Android phone or tablet using the SmartGlass app on a home network. Microsoft says the streaming TV feature will be available initially in countries where its digital TV tuner will be available, so it looks like the US might have to wait to stream TV. Other improvements in an upcoming Xbox One dashboard update include the ability to boot the console straight to TV, a live TV mini guide at the bottom of the screen to change channels, and a new media player that supports content from USB devices or via DLNA. Microsoft is also adding threaded messages, a Snap Center to improve side-by-side apps with games, and a new friends section so you needn’t open the dedicated app as frequently. All the updates will be made available to preview users later this month, and to all Xbox One owners over the coming months. web page

Doesn't this only work in Europe? And it's only over the air TV not cable channels? I'm not trying to troll, just asking for more information. I missed the conference since I was in a meeting. Sony has a similar thing on the PS3 (minus the streaming to device) but it's EU only. SonyPlayTV

Its only going to work in Europe because they have the TV tuner and regulations that allow TV channels to stream without a problem.
I think the problem in the US is that some channels don't allow their channels to be streamed. Also, the US cable companies are fighting tooth and nail against this because they will lose money.
I have hope because Slingbox and SiliconDust HDHomeRun are pretty much the same thing and there haven't been any issues with their products.
