Liberal feminist attacks Mitch McConnell's 'Asian' wife

I'm no defender of Mitch McConnell and there are plenty of ways to legitimately attack the man's politics, but to go after his wife for being 'Asian'?

That's really trawling the depths of the barrel for the worst scum to sling.

Some woman named Kathy Groob who has never reached anything above City Council in Ft. Mitchell Kentucky. I guess she ran for a seat in the Kentucky Senate as well. She also started some "Elect Women" organization and wrote a book on being a woman and getting elected

Just like Conservatives, you can't let a bad apple spoil the whole bunch........ Just like all other politicians, Groob is most definitely human and prone to saying, or in this case "tweeting", stupid things.

I'm a conservative on most issues, but I don't like being grouped in (and don't like conservatives being grouped in) with the morons who claim to represent them

If you're told that, it's lame propaganda that has no basis in fact. I don't believe it any more than I'm sure you do.

People suck no matter what their political bent may be.

Given your recent spate of politically-based posts, I have to ask:

"Are you using this example to paint ALL liberals with this 18" wide brush?"

just curious

No, I'm not using it as an 18" wide brush. Honestly, it's intended for a certain 'holier than thou" segment among the political hack-trap artists that posts here. If you take offense to it, *shrug*. It wasn't pointed at you.

I'm expecting the whole group of normal raving lunatics leftists (I don't really consider you in this group...yet ) to come to her defense though. I'm sure that you know the ones I'm referencing.

Liberals are all hypocrits.

Look at the National Organization of Women. They are suppose to be an organization for advancement of women. They were the harshes critics of Sarah Palin. That organization should change their name to National Organization of Liberal Women.

Same goes for everything else. The NAACP will not support a black Republican.

Homosexual groups will not support a homosexual Republican.

etc... etc.. etc...

Liberal groups are elitists. They need others to need them to survive.

Someday people will open their eyes and find out that this is a free country and they do not need big brother groups.

Just clicking on you Clem because I really don't feel like clicking on anyone else.

Just wanted to check in and say it's posts like this that make me sad. It makes me sad that people feel the need to attack one another based on differences of skin color, ethnic origin, or political belief. It makes me sad to see grown adults call one another hypocrites and get all frothy-mouthed about something "they" did, and can you believe "they" think they're better than "us?" It makes me sad when people feel the need to hold up the fringe as the representative of a group, just because it makes it easier to argue against.

This country would be a heck of a lot better off and much more productive without this childish and ignorant black and white thinking from both sides.

You're whole post just got thrown out the window by saying all liberals are hypocrites.

You all know I'm an independent. I don't see what all the fuss is about the tweet but pointing the wife's ethnicity does raise ones eyebrows. However, if someone stated she was from Kentucky (born and raised) and she's not (but immigrated here) then that's up for discussion. BUT the democratic poster needed to acknowledge that one can be "Asian" AND be from Kentucky; sad thing is she didn't.

No offense taken by me. I'd need to care a LOT more about most things before I'd be offended by anything I read here, Dawg.

I only asked because of everybody's recent activity in EE. It kinda smelled like 'stinkbait,' so I had to 'troll' for answers. I got mine. It's all good.

Like I've said a few times before, I lean center-left... but the center is pretty much where I live. In some circles, that makes me a traitor to either side....

...but then, I look at those circles, and repeat to myself the old Groucho Marx line:

"I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member."

I can't handle the extremes of either side in socio-politics. They BOTH remind me of "that neighbor that everyone in the hood avoids."

Have fun.

Here is my political standing...Create jobs or get the tuck out. Get out of my private life and stay the tuck out of it. Don't tax me or were I work beyond 20% total. If you can't run a government on that then refer to position 1 and get more jobs. If you want to live a depraved life then do so on your own dime and don't come taxing me to pay for your mistakes. Suffer and learn and pass that knowledge on to your kids so maybe the next gen will know better.

I believe old people and disabled people should be taken care of by society. They are not lazy people but just people who have either done their fair share or they had bad things happen to them. We should have compassion for them because they can't help themselves.

I have no problems with helping the poor, so long as, they are trying to help themselves. Once they grow content to pick up a welfare check and stop looking for work I am done with them though. Lazy people should just be allowed to starve and die.

I believe that in a modern society government should take care of education, healthcare, and job growth. Those to me are the cornerstones of society. If your sick you can't work. If your stupid and ignorant you can't work. If there are no jobs then you can't work. It's when people can't make a living that despair takes hold of the people and makes them lose hope for a better future for themselves and their children and so they give up.

Jobs can fix 90% of whatever might be wrong in our country.

You can't fix stupid but you can destroy ignorance. When you destroy ignorance you remove the justifications for evil. If you want to destroy evil then educate our people. Hate is a tool of the stupid to deal with what they can't understand.

I like this line of thinking.

It's a lot closer to my own P.O.V. than sooooo much of what I read on the interwebs.

Back in the late '90's/early 2000's, we were promised that the internet would issue in a "new era of enlightenment and cultural exchange." I heard that on an NPR radio interview, while driving to an out-of-town gig.

After I thought about what was said, I started laughing my music-making 40-something year-old ass off.... and started talking back to the radio, which I am known to do.

"Yeah... we'll get that, for sure... and it will be a good thing in many ways. We'll also get any and every lunatic with a computer and a dial-up to have equal say in the new conversation. Nothing will change, except the speed of new fistfights."

Uhh.... am I wrong? 15-20 years later?

____________

I swear to God, most of what I read on the net can be summed up in this headline:

"Mid-level Primates Use Broadband to Influence National Politics."

If that makes me an 'elitist,' I'll wear that label as a badge of honor, even if the person who slaps the label on me views it as a pejorative.

I worked my ass off to learn about My World, take in differing points-of-view, and develop an approach to living that keeps me sane, functioning and willing to move forward. My mind and efforts are always focused on whom We might become. If I distract myself with who we currently are, I'll lose focus on whom we might grow to be.

My job forces me to be a student of the past. As I study the lives and and times of the great symphonic composers of the past, I realize how little has changed in Human Nature in the past 500+ years. As I study the literary works of the Romans, Greeks, and contributors through the Renaissance, I realize how little has changed since the dawn of recorded history. We still fight against the same demons that were laid out to us in the Old Testament.

Human Beings "grow slow," yo.

Gutter talk that begins with "All Libs are this" and " All Cons are that" get my scroll button... on fast-forward. I'll waste no time on such posts. Threads that pander to such responses will get no reply from me. To put it plainly: I simply don't have enough time to waste on folks who want to engage in 'talking points.'.

I'm 57 years old. I only have so much time left, and I refuse to waste it on folks who haven't done the same work I have. I believe I have earned the luxury of discretion that comes from 'time served.'

Dawgs will only see me in threads like this every once in awhile. It's not because I consider myself above them... it's because I've seen/heard it all before.

I'm holding out for something new/different. As I approach my 60's, I'm convinced that I've already seen pretty much all My Fellow Man has to offer.

After all.... we're all still playing out the same old game we did when God put 'His Only Begotten Son' down here to save us all....

...and look at the mess we've made of things (again) since Jesus was hung upon the cross.

As long as threads (such as these) resort to the kind of tribalism that defines the 'least of us,' we'll never see politically-based threads that prompt us to aspire to talk on a level that aspires to 'the best of us.'

Anarchy: as much as you want to place "archliberals" at the heart of "America's problem" ... I hold you just as responsible for the current tone of discourse.

You, and the Dawgs you wish to bait into this conversation are both "flip sides of the same mis-minted American coin."

You tipped your hand when you responded to me... and that's all I needed. You're no better than the Dawgs you view as your political adversaries.

Both of you factions need to step (TF) back, and understand this over-arching truth:

You both love this country... you just have differing opinions about how to best serve its interests.

American Cons and American Libs aren't each others' enemies. They are both allies- who disagree on the steps America should take.

If you (and the Dawgtalkers you wish to bait) can't see that, America is truly doomed,in the annals of World History.

I'm not ready to concede that.

I believe that we (as a nation) are better than our lowest impulses.

Sorry if this derails the intent of your thread... but I care too much about US to allow this thread to divde us.

It's just how I roll.... for better, or worse.

I kind of felt that you took it that way but wanted to cover the bases with you since it was you that responded and not 'those others'. If you had taken offense, I couldn't have helped it, so the *shrug* was indicated. If anyone thinks that I'm anything but extremely right-wing, they haven't been paying attention to my rantings.

I know you do and I don't view you as a traitor, just misguided and wrong. You don't come across as having hatred of this country in your soul. I can't say that I get the save vibe from others.

Groucho Marx had wit. Most of the stuff from those who it was pointed at is pure Karl Marx.

I can handle any extreme, if they have a valid argument. The really tough part from many is to pry the valid argument out of them.

It's funny cause Anarch labels anybody on the left as people who hate America.

Dude has to be the biggest hypocrite on this board. He's constantly calling people dumb and stupid, but the moment you fire back he puts you on ignore.

So I'mma make my own label of the GOP: intolerance.
