CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The next time Johnny Manziel's money phone rings, it will probably be former Browns quarterback Brady Quinn telling the rookie to clean up his act.

Question is, will the Browns' party boy hear him?

In an interview Tuesday on SiriusXM NFL radio, Quinn ripped Manziel for the infamous 'money phone' Instagram video, in which a woozy Manziel pretends a huge stack of money is his phone, but he "can't hear you because there's too money in my f------ hand!'

"I just don't think it's right,'' Quinn told Jim Miller and Pat Kirwan on Movin the Chains. "I don't think it's respectful to the other veteran players too right now that are probably taking care of their bodies, trying to prepare to go into a winning season right now instead of doing things like that off the field.''

Quinn, who also criticized Manziel for his Vegas antics over Memorial Day Weekend, admonished the rookie for disrespecting the amazing opportunity he's been given by the Browns. Manziel signed his four-year contract worth $8.25 million on Tuesday.

"I think he has all the ability in the world,'' said Quinn, a fellow No. 22 overall pick of the Browns and currently a free agent. "He's probably got the best offensive coordinator for him to succeed and he's got some talent around him, especially if (Josh) Gordon ends up not being suspended. The thing I'm most worried about is what you're kind of seeing off the field.

"Some people say you can work hard and play hard, but I think my biggest issue is when you're drafted in the first round, you're the face of the franchise. And when you've got a video that comes out like that, I understand he's trying to have a good time and live his life off the field, but there's a little kid watching that, and now he's looking up to him as a role model and for me personally, I have a little bit of an issue with it. I don't think that's the way you want to conduct yourself.

"If you were asking (Browns owner) Jimmy Haslam 'is that really what you want the face of your franchise doing, and having out there?"

Quinn pointed to Super Bowl-winning quarterback Russell Wilson as the appropriate ambassador for a team.

"I always revert back to Russell Wilson only because he's so young, and he's been so successful, but you see all the time his good works,'' said Quinn. "When he's out there on camera, or out there on twitter or whatever it is, he's at a hospital with sick kids, giving them gifts, trying to brighten up their day. "

"That's the kind of role model [Russell Wilson] I'd want for my franchise and I don't understand why (Manziel) can't interject more of it into his life. He's got such a following.

"So then try to do it in a positive way to help kids who are sick or people who are homeless or whatever it is, but just try to do it in a more positive manner.''

Quinn, a lifelong Browns fan, knows firsthand just how much the fans here want an winner and how much of an honor the opportunity is.

Ironically, Manziel spent the day with the rest of the Browns rookies at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, where they helped children with physical disabilities from Youth Challenge enjoy the zoo.

The Browns declined to comment Monday on Manziel's money phone video, but it's a good bet they're talking to him about his off-the-field behavior. The Browns are conducting their own rookie school this week, led by player engagement director Jamil Northcutt and his assistant Russell Maryland. The rookies are participating in community events and learning about life off the field.

Manziel was not available to reporters at the zoo Tuesday and will also not talk to the media Thursday at a youth football camp at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Following the Browns' rookie school, all NFL rookies will participate in the league's Rookie Symposium next week in Aurora, Ohio, where they'll also hear from veterans and professionals about how to conduct themselves off the field.

By the end of the two weeks, maybe Manziel will have gotten the message.

Or maybe his money phone will still be ringing.

Why are reporters asking for Quinn's opinion? I didn't realize he was the voice of the NFL...

Hey, Brady, if you hadn't flopped, we wouldn't have to worry about this...

If Quinn had ever succeeded to any degree in the NFL, then his opinion might carry some weight.

Let's review though ...... he held out as a rookie, missed 2 weeks of training camp, and never caught up. (though his lack of talent and ability also served to hold him back) His 1st game, against a awful defense, was the best of his career.

He was also in some idiotic pictures.

He has no room to talk, and no real gravitas required to correct someone else. In the end, Quinn is the bad example of how to be an NFL QB.

This is getting a little old at this point.

It seems like a slow sports week so let's see if Manziel's got any pictures we can criticize.

I'm still not sure about the boy, but I don't really care how he parties, after all he's just turned partying age AND he's got a ton of cash.

If I would have had that kind of dough when I was his age I would probably have done worse by now.

I'll care when they start to comment about his play.

One can choose to spend their leisure time with close friends and family, or they can choose to run the party circuit.

One way keeps them out of the headlines without bringing media attention and comments. the other brings such things upon them.

It's a question of choice. Johnny Football has made his choice.

It's already a lot like Tebow around here. The media will report on ANYTHING that's related to Manziel and also deem it "breaking news". Browns fans, NFL fans, and just sports fans are getting to a saturation point.

I was on another board and lots of people were flipping out because ESPN announced Manziel signed his contract yesterday. All other first rounders signed and ESPN barely mentioned it if at all. But they ran a special announcement across their bottom ticker for Manziel.

It's going to be a long offseason, camp, preseason & season if this keeps up.

However, he is a 21 year old young man, unmarried, and uber popular. People like him, and want to be with him.

I would guess that I would have been a holy terror at 21 if I had been in a similar situation as Manziel is now. Heck, I was anyway. I probably hit the bars at least 3-4 times/week, and was chasing girls at every opportunity. If I'd have had a camera crew following me around everywhere, I probably would have looked even worse than I was though. Even on nights when I didn;t have many drinks, or any at all, we would screw around. We had a fake fight at 3 am just off of Rockside Rd. in Maple Heights one night when I was about 26 or so. lol There were cars leaving the bars, and some drove around 4 or 5 times to get a good look. We weren't drunk ..... just letting off steam and screwing around. I bet that Manziel gets tired of the cameras sometimes and acts the clown just so they get something and leave him alone. Who knows for sure?

21, popular, came from money, is making money. All well and good. What he's doing doesn't seem to be hurting his football at this point. However, what he's doing now, he's been doing for a while. Good bad or indifferent, it's true.

It seems to me in Sports Illustrated, or maybe ESPN the Mag - there was an article a while back (a year maybe) where the reporter was with JM for a day - golfing with him and his dad - and the article came off as Johnny being a spoiled, pampered brat with his dad even saying something along the lines of (when John threw his golf club) "we get a bit worried about his behavior...." (and that's paraphrasing, by the way)

He hasn't broken any laws, he's free to do what he wants. But, for some reason, anything he does that can be perceived negatively, is. The media is out for him. Mainly in a bad or negative way. Or maybe it's just because his name will bring attention.......I don't know.

I do hope he tones it down a bit, but he hasn't done anything wrong - just things that are perceived to be wrong due to his "fame".

He likes to party and doesn't care much what people think about it. For us football junkies, there isn't much going on now... like playing actual games, so stuff like that video makes the news...

So it was BQ or FIFA. We see how slow it is. NBA is finally out of season. Yeah, Brady Quinn; I used to care a bit.

Just a question YTown....

If you had a multi-million dollar contract coming and media attention breathing down your neck, do you feel you may have thought it in your best interest to handle yourself differently?

Now? Definitely. When I was 21? Maybe .... maybe not. I loved going out and having a good time back then, and often acted like a fool. My friends and I were always screwing around ...... acting really drunk, even if we weren't ...... sometimes getting really drunk .......

If I was heading into a high pressure job, had a lot of money, and was looking for girls and a good time ....... who knows? I probably would have toned things down ...... but I can't say that I would have stopped altogether.

People freaked out because he floated on a swan ..... with someone obviously holding onto it so he couldn't get too far out. That one .... who cares? In another, he went and saw a fight ..... hung out with a hot girl in a bathing suit ....... Oooooo how terrible. lol

This most recent thing was somewhat worrisome ..... but I don't know the circumstances. Was he drunk, or just screwing around? Was he celebrating his contract? What 21 year old single guy who just came into $6 million wouldn't go out and celebrate? I don't think that it looked very good, the way he acted ...... but I am sure that I have acted at least that badly in my day.

Unless he is the second coming of Joe Nameth, he needs to tone it down.

He is the face of our franchise and right now he wears the fool face.

Yeah.

If he plays well, I don't care what he does.

However, the three biggest factors that lead me to believe he won't succeed are size, questions of work ethic, and my perception that's he's a moron.

He's only amplified my fear of the latter two.

I'm not really all that worried about it...the story will unfold on the field.

I'll add to that...the above guy was also dumb enough to holdout when all he had to do was beat out some stiffs to be an NFL starter.
