Stumbled onto this. Interestingly well done:

This interactive infographic from Number Sleuth accurately illustrates the scale of over 100 items within the observable universe ranging from galaxies to insects, nebulae and stars to molecules and atoms. Numerous hot points along the zoom slider allow for direct access to planets, animals, the hydrogen atom and more. As you scroll, a handy dial spins to show you your present magnification level.

While other sites have tried to magnify the universe, no one else has done so with real photographs and 3D renderings. To fully capture the awe of the vastly different sizes of the Pillars of Creation, Andromeda, the sun, elephants and HIV, you really need to see images, not just illustrations of these items. Stunningly enough, the Cat's Eye Nebula is surprising similar to coated vesicles, showing that even though the nebula is more than 40,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 times larger, many things are similar in our universe.

We hope you have a blast magnifying the universe, know that each time you zoom in a depth, you're magnifying the universe 10x ... and every time you zoom out, the bigger objects are 1/10th of their prior size. If you zoom from the biggest object, The Observable Universe (8.8 x 10E26 ... or 880,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000m across), all the way down to the hydrogen atom's proton nucleus (1.7 x 10E-15 ... or 0.0000000000000017m across), you will have zoomed in over 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000x! Unbelievable isn't it? Our universe really is immensely massive and surprisingly small.

Wow ... the universe is kinda big. It would take years to explore it all........

Like trillions of trillions of trillions of years.

It is amazing that we cannot even really hope, at this point, to ever make it to another solar system in our galaxy, let along another galaxy.

Man, how can we even hope to even comprehend the complexity of what God has created. We can never explore it all. Even if we could go from solar system to solar system, and explore each in a single year, it would still billions of years just to pop in and then leave for the next. There are what .... 200 billion stars in the Milky Way? That alone would take us 200 billion years to just visit. Man, that's before we even head off to the next galaxy. Then there are hundreds of billions of galaxies in the universe. It is almost impossible to comprehend. I mean, I can understand the numbers, but they are just numbers. Imagine what God must be, to be aware of everything, everywhere, in the entire universe, at all times. Frankly, I cannot even begin to comprehend the enormity of that concept. It is literally mind blowing.

Man ...... hundreds of billions of galaxies, each potentially with hundreds of billions of solar systems .......... the odds against us being the only life in the galaxy would see to be pretty slim ... but even if there is life on one planet per galaxy, it seems pretty unlikely that we'll ever find them.

It amazes me that we have progressed so rapidly in so many ways ...... computers are in widespread use in every aspect of life ...... electronics in general have become incredibly smart ..... cars are becoming capable of driving themselves ........ yet we are still at the first baby steps of space travel, and rapidly heading nowhere. Maybe we might make a manned trip to Mars .... but even that is a decade off. We will still have to use current propulsion methods and technology, which are incredibly slow on a universal basis. We also have no means of 2 way long distance communications. Radio is reliable, but we can only use that for relatively short distances. We certainly don't want to rely upon radio for trips to another solar system. Imagine an emergency where the crew needs information, and it takes a day or more to send a message and a day or more to get one back. I think that communication has to be the first priority for truly long distance space travel, even before propulsion.

Anyway, thanks for a really thought provoking, and awe inspiring tool.

What are you talking about, I walked the entire universe just yesterday. I get a glimpse of it every time I look in the mirror.
