Now if we could just get rid Swisher...
It's odd, everyone knew he was a .255 / mid-20 HR bat when they signed him (which was what he performed last year). It was the price that stunk. Some said it was the hometown upcharge because he could have gotten slightly less to be on a better team. Whatever. But he is a vet and his leadership did help us win the wildcard last year.
This year, he's way down, but I think he's "heating up" (.255 in July). I just can't believe he's getting $11m!
I'm okay keeping him for now, but he better at least hit .250 every month from here on out. It's not that much to ask.

Tigers get Price. We're toast for the rest of the season.
Meh, we were never going to catch them. We're still racing the wildcard leaders. And we're only 5 back.

We're not catching the playoffs (as in ALDS...not the silly "wildcard" game) with inconsistent bats, a spotty rotation, and a serviceable bullpen at best.

You never know, this team jelled in September to take the #1 WC spot. It could happen again.
And last I heard, our bulley is the strength of the team. One of the best in the league (but maybe that was a "...since the beginning of June" comments on Baseball Tonight).

Apparently traded to Washington for AAA infielder, Zach Walters. Supposed to have a good bat, hope he can play 3rd.
He can actually play anywhere on the infield, but primarily he's play SS and 3B. A good pick up by the Tribe. He's also got some good speed on the bases.

29 HR last year at AAA, and 15 so far this year.
Looks like a power guy to me. He is also hitting .300 this year.

He also has a cannon for an arm and the errors that show up on his stat line aren't all his.
The odd thing about Syracuse's field is that the first basemen has the sun glaring in his eyes during games nearing sundown on throws from short. On several occasions, I've seen first basemen on-target throws from short.
He also bats from both sides of the plate.

The tigers just robbed the rays. you get him until 2015, and only gave up Austin Jackson, Smily and a prospect. Don't know why the indians couldn't put together a deal like that.. We're stuck in mediocrity.
