bleacher report

Jared Lorenzen—aka the Hefty Lefty—has been spotted on the football field, and it is as awesome as you would expect.

The legend of Lorenzen began at the University of Kentucky back in 2000. He went undrafted in 2004 but got a chance to be a backup in the NFL for four seasons. He even has a Super Bowl ring, as he was a member of the New York Giants in 2007 when they stopped the New England Patriots' quest for perfection.

Kentucky listed Lorenzen 6'4" and 260 pounds during his time with the Wildcats. He has only gotten bigger.

Go to the link for videos of him scrambling that are very impressive.

This reminds me of another guy who had weight issues named Javorskie Lane. If I remember right he weighed about 270 or so when he was playing with the Dolphins some time. I know of him because I signed him on while playing Madden.

Those jerseys are horrible, and don't help flatter him at all../.

Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

The next NFL fad; QBs that are so big they don't need an OLine.

He doesn't look light on his feet while moving around...but I guess it's better than a O-lineman. It's funny though.

I want to see a video of him breaking loose on a QB draw and watching the LBs and DBs scatter to avoid tackling him.

So I gather he's 6'4 320. He's averaged sized for an offensive lineman. Not quite like if he were monstrously big. Just for a quarterback.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

I think calling him 320 pounds is being kind. He looks significantly bigger than that to me.

What is really surprising in those videos is that he didn't eat the football.

I'm always amazed that some guys can maintain, even gain weight despite \ having a job where they literally run every single day.

Well, that didn't last long.

Ex-UK QB Jared Lorenzen Breaks Leg in CIFL

Just as quickly as former Kentucky QB Jared Lorenzen found himself back in the spotlight, the “Hefty Lefty” saw his 2014 Continental Indoor Football League season come to an all-too premature end.

Lorenzen, who will celebrate his 33rd birthday on Friday, sustained a broken right leg for the Northern Kentucky River Monsters on Sunday. After being helped off the field by a couple of trainers and two of his burlier teammates - after all, the man is 320 pounds - he was placed on a stretcher and taken to a local hospital.

Following an outpouring of support on Twitter, Lorenzen gave an update on his injury and thanked everyone for their well-wishing.

Thx everyone for the support. It’s a broken tibia and surgery next wk. Really can’t thank every1 enough. It’s been great to read ur tweets.

I think Quiznos should hire him to become their Jared and have him drop 100 pounds eating sandwiches.

Too bad about the broken tibia, doesn't sound like it had much to do with his weight, just the nature of the sport.
