Just got back from the Sprint store and the service rep in there told me it was FUBAR. So disappointed as I loved this phone, and very disappointed in Samsung. But maybe this is a lesson learned in buying the insurance for it. I just thought Sprint's 12 bucks per month was too high, as it does seem pretty unreasonable. Let me know what you think?
I took very good care of the phone, only dropped it a handful of times(yeah don't tell me you never drop yours) in 20 months. And I hadn't dropped it in months, everything was fine as i checked a text. I put the phone back in my pocket after that, and it never came back on.
After that I googled about it and came across Sudden Death Syndrome for the GS3. So it's a common issue.
I apologize to IPhone users, you do have a superior product although I will never buy into it simply because I hate the IOS operating system.
I'm looking at the LG G2 right now, it looks really nice. Does anyone here have it?
The $12/month over 20 months = $240 in premiums if you had taken that insurance at day 1. (which I assume is mandatory for coverage as insuring a phone at month 15, for example, would put an unreasonable burden on the insurance company)
I have never gad a phone go bad ..... but then again, I have never bought a high tech phone. I use mine for ....... phone calls.

I have a G2. Love the knock on knock off and the back button. The camera is nothing to brag about, but it has front and back lenses. The back button makes taking pictures fairly easy. The large screen is really nice for watching video and has a beautiful picture. The phone itself is clear and crisp. I've now had it for 3 months and it's been in a cheapo protective case since I bought it....and yes, I've dropped it. It doesn't have a removable battery, but so far battery life is much better than my previous phone (Droid X). I'm not a "power user", but I usually get 2 days out of a charge. We'll have to wait and see if this keeps up. There's also no SD card slot. I'll never use up the 16gb, but if you're an app geek it might be something to consider. At the time I purchased the phone, I did a lot of research and the reviews were almost all good.

My GS3 is my 5th Android phone, and is by far the best, most reliable, and I don't think that even if mine were to crap out suddenly now, it would discourage me from staying with Samasung, especially after buying a Note 10.1 tablet a year ago and it is just great as well.
Now I will add that as of late, maybe the last month or so, my phone seems to hve slowed down in it's reaction time when I click an app to open, sometimes I even hit it again thinking it didn't register my first tap. I attribute this to one of the updates cause I first noticed it a few days after a major update.
I may try to wipe my phone and re-update everything, then reload my apps. But all in all my GS3 has been great, with little if any troubles, even my battery life 16 months in is still very very good, mind you I'm at a desk all day and can plug it in at anytime should I need to, but don't think I ever have just because of the battery charge, usually because I need to access the data.
My son just got the HTC One, which he seems to like so far, but he's only had it about a month, and switched from a Motorola Droid 2, so anything is probably an inprovement. But I have had to HTC, EVO and EVO shift, and both goave me about 6 months of great use, then the rest was troubled or extermely slow performance.
I have had a few LG devices, not phones, and have found thier products to be very good, especially at the price point they sell.

well, I work so I use it for that a lot. All of my business contacts are in my phone, all my employees past and present are in my phone. All backed up on my laptop and desktop.
I get my business email on my cell when I'm not in front of one of my computers. it helps greatly with staying in contact with my customers.
I love my I-phone, my wife loves hers and she loves her I-Pad as well.
I'm on my 3rd I-Phone. Never really had any issues so far with any of them.
for me, it's worth having one.. When/if I retire, I may just get a simple phone, but until then,,, Don't touch my I-phone...LOL

That was my first thought, if you are extending your phone, you shouldn't pay more than $200 for a phone... so the insurance really only helps you if your phone dies in the first year.
I use my phone for calls too.. and to check email... and check sports scores... play a few games.... navigation when I'm driving around... texting my kids... twitter....
Yea I have to agree. I have had the GS2 since it came out and I still love it. I just can't bring myself to trade it in. I have dropped it several times, even went swimming in a lake with it (for about 15 minutes before I remembered it was in my pocket) and it still works great. The only thing I ever had to do was replace the battery when it seemed it would go dead really fast. I have to say it would be hard for me to not buy another Samsung if mine ever does bite the dust.

Yeah, exactly.
Sprint's insurance is unreasonable, I paid 200 for it with a 2 year contract so for the reason you stated I decided not to get it.

Yeah, it was my first android phone but I loved it, I'm just a little but hurt right now. Maybe I'll be over it in four months when my contract is up.
The S5 looks to be groundbreaking with the new pixel resolution, it will be tough to say no.
