In 2006, then-Sen. Obama said: “Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America’s debt limit.”

The best politicians can accomplish is debating over how much debt to put us in. The reality is to actually spend a true surplus would currently be an economic nightmare with unemployment skyrocketing from decreases in military and public jobs. We would also have to slash the dependent classes to ribbons which would mean people with zero savings and unemployed. I kind of expected Obama to decrease military spending, but I'm not sure if politics has that much baring on actual policy.

I used to be very very into politics back in 2004-2008. Then I realized I have no control over it. And it is a worldwide phenomenon that governments / democracies eat their countries alive. I don't care which crooks run the country and I don't care to try and stop it. Aside from the amount of taxes I pay it doesn't affect me much at all either way.

Harry Reid during 2006 debt ceiling debate. Ironically, he was correct then but he seems to have had a change of heart today. Maybe it's the Chinese and Japanese influencing him.

Isn't it great how nobody ever means what they say in Washington? IMO, he has been the slimiest president in my lifetime, and that really says something.

There is the problem in a nutshell. Politicians say what they need to say when they need to say it to get elected. They don't work for us. NOT ONE OF THEM DO

So keep on beating on Obama.. Keep on beating on Boehner or Ried or who ever. The truth is, they are all out for themselves. NOT US.

As long as they get to live under a different set of rules then those that impose on us, it will continue.

Until then, those that wish to may keep right on beating on whoever you oppose. It will, in the end, mean absolutely nothing.

Too bad ordinary citizens cannot just run for Congress and win.

No, as long as people keep reelecting the same guys for decades nothing will change.

Term limits are the only solution, and they will never happen unless a national referendum is made. But then the lifers in congress will find a way to dispose of it.

Polls show this president at a 41% approval level. Congress is at about 14%. Yet instead of removing these failures, people continue to send the same guys to congress election after election.

I find it funny that when this administration is criticized, folks bring up that "all" politicians are the same, but year after year elect the same guys in your districts.

I've seen folks come on here and bash Fox news, yet never admit to the bias on the other networks. they talk about what a failure Bush was, never hold Obama to the same standards. They follow the media like a lemmings, while they accuse Fox followers of the same.

Guys like Rangel commit crimes, and never lose their jobs, but a guy like Petreus has an affair is is asked to resign, why, he's not part of the liberal agenda.

Obama is a flat out liar. When Bush told the truth he was accused on the floor of congress of being a liar with nothing to back it up as proof. Yet this guy lies constantly, and noone even blinks an eye.

This government will never be the same now that the media and hollywood has brainwashed the youth into believing all republicans are rich white guys. It is all BS. How many young blacks even know that Martin Luther King was a republican? How many know that democrats in the south were against most of todays "civil" rights laws.

But, it will only get worse, because many folks like yourself won't point the finger of blame where it belongs, due to your loyalty to the democratic party.

Obama goes on TV and claims that "the American People" want things, while polls show they don't. Congress has a minimal approval rating, but the media has brainwashed the youth into believing that 'congress" is the house of representatives ony, because they are a republican majority. Congress is the House and Senate, even though Harry Reid and others try to make you believe that it is only house.

My favorite lie from democrats is that Clinton balanced the budget. He actually had to be forced to sign it and the welfare reform act after he vetoed both numerous times. But facts don't matter, when the media doesn't hold the person stating something to the task of proving what they said.

I find it funny that a republican congressman makes a gay advance to someone, and he is considered the scourge of the earth by the same people that want to give "extra" rights to gays. Petreaus is depicted as a no good cheat, while Clinton, who was using his cigars as a marital aide in the oval office, and lied directly to the American public, is considered a god.

I've had enough of people trashing the Tea party candidates, while praising lifetime members of congress. They were elected by their constituents the same way these criminals like Rangel were. Yet, they are considered "extreme" because the believe that the constitution should be followed.

I'm done with my rant, because I could bring up countless examples of the hypocrisy of the democratic party, but it would be wasted time. When the left admits to the fact that they are not about the "people", instead of the "party" and keeping the power for their party. Nothing will ever return this country to what is was founded to be.

What hurts, is the next candidate the democrats put up will be the same lying cheating woman, that sat and watched four Americans die, than went out and lied about it to this day.

See the above for why we have the politicians we have.

There's still people out there who don't think it's a one-party shell game.
