It's been a little bit, and I have a fair few folks in my real estate database now, some are past customers some are current, and I hope some will be future and I want to stay in touch other than by snail mail. Mailchimp and Constant Contact were two options that I was given. I'm not a big fan of the Mailchimp. I know they are similar, but I was curious if anyone has any first hand experience with it.

Thanks.

I loved using real mail to stay in touch with my customers, because if it's done right it can be seen as a service, and not an intrusion ..... and it also puts something in their hand that they can hold on to, or pass along to a friend. I am a firm believer in giving people something they can handle physically.

I used to send out little reminders about winterizing hints ........ a thank you ....... information about a service, parts, or sales promotion ...... and so on. I always used post card sized cards, no envelopes, and no mess. People would see my name even if just in passing, and I would often have new customers come in with one of my cards that one of my customers have given them. .

I used to love seeing my customers come in and I would say something like "I'm glad you remembered me". and they would often say, "How could we forget you?"

I do not have first-hand experience, but a woman that I used to do some contract development for uses it extensively, and I've seen it used by some larger corporations as well.

I agree. I use real mail as well. I blanket neighborhoods and also send to my customers. I love the advice and tips of what has worked. Good to know that I am on the right track.

I'm thinking about using CC as an additional tool instead of a replacement tool. With a Call for Action and some information in the email, and I'm thinking of putting something in that they can click and print (Emergency contact numbers, Hurricane preparedness checklist, something like that) with my branding of course. ;-)

That could be good. My one caution would be to be very careful with clients' emails. People get really crappy if they get emails that they did not request. If you go with an email system, I would make it specifically opt in only. You don't want to become known as "that spam guy". (at least that's what I'd do, so for whatever it's worth)

Absolutely! I agree. I sent out an email to everyone that asked them exactly that. If they do not click the link, then they never get another email. If they do, then they are added to the list.

And I have added a way to join on my facebook page, and I am looking into a way to get it on my website as well.

I have some changes to the website I have to do anyways, so this should be easy enough to add.

I just hope that it keeps me in front of them enough to remind them about me. We'll see I guess. For $20 a month, it's cheaper than sending out mail items every week.

I used to mail my customers 4 times/year. That was sufficient. Winterizing tips, and other tips and/or incentives for the other seasons. Sometimes I would just do a postcard sized image of my business card, (which I designed myself) with "Thank you for your business" across the top. I used to get a lot of those back from referrals. I always did postcards. They are easy to produce/address, and are less expensive to mail ... and the recipient has to see what I want them to see, even if only for a second.
