Now of course there is this FBI/IRS thing going on...man o man what if he has to sell the team?

I seriously doubt it will come to that. I think the worst case is Haslam is convicted and goes to jail but with his personal fortune intact he leaves the Browns to his wife or children to take over and let's Banner run the show.

Much like what happened to Eddie Debartolo and the 9ers.

Family stepped into the breach then, I suspect they will this time as well.

Again, that's the worst case as I see it. The best case, Haslam is cleared of all wrong doing and he pays to clean up what is owed his customers at PFJ and life goes on as before.

But that's all JMO

If he and his family were forced to give up the team, I would actually pull for a league-controlled team, so that this front office and coaching staff get a fair shot, instead of scrapping the whole thing AGAIN.

I don't think he will be forced to sell though.

Two things.

First, if Haslam is forced out by legal trouble, that is probably 2-4 years off. It isn't a quick process unless he is cleared early. Trials and appeals of this nature can drag out over several years.

Second, there is precedent galor that would allow him to transfer ownership to a family member.

This isn't like a bankruptcy where all of an individulas assets become under court supervision. Pilot has plenty of assets to pay off all wrongs. That's the easy part. The Browns won't be needed to do that.

The family may sell, but again, that won't be for several years. If Lombardi and Banner are doing a good job and the team is responding to their direction, I doubt a new owner is going to come in and shake things up just for the sake of doing so......so we'll know if things need to be changed or not if it becomes worst case time..

At least that is how I see it.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Well, it will give all you regime haters more ammunition to blast the FO, but I could care less. This guy was here for how long? What's our record been since he has arrived? Do we have a franchise QB? Pffttttt......good riddance.

Just for the record - NO WAY am I suggesting this as a big fear or I'm claiming this will happen.

The quotes being used has the thought process actually attached. My post on hand was about JOB SECURITY...how Heckert possibly Holmgren n Shurmur as well at one time was not thinking 2012 as in got to be in the playoffs...they continued to build this free of massive FA n the I though a blessing in disguise cause the gave up the Short Term for the Long Term n went gung ho with the Youth!

Then I suggested Banner/Lombardi have that JOB SECURITY...then I went into a OH NO situation of how that SECURITY could sneak up on them similar to Heckert n crew - that was with an ownership change. N so I brought up the only way that could be possible.

No way was I projecting that as a Probability n it truly was in our future. My point primarily is on Job Security n how that plays into the building of a team (mostly in the FA market) If those guys new in advance their job was on the line they would have brought in any n every FA not worrying about mortgaging the future just bring in as many as they could to be the Utmost competitive that YEAR. You know like Butch's two year FA buildup 01 n 02...then be 20 mil over the cap n start all over.

JMHO n thought process of what I stated.

Yes, but then you only have 160 characters in a text. When you type a few thousand, a couple more here and there wouldn't really hurt.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Really "n" is a problem in the reading concept of my post? actually I started doing that in my posting a while ago. I did just start texting around December...as I got a new phone n changed my plan from 1998 - so I actually had a key board n it didn't cost me $.20 to receive or send a text. lol

But if that bothered you...its automatic n I don't type w/one finger...does it also bother you if I use (w/) ...smh (learned that from the young kids)

But thanks for the football discussion - needless to say that was pretty disappointing.

I definitely typed that in a rush so it read a bit confusing - not cause of the "N" stuff.

I'm just amazed that a thread about major changes to our scouting department has turned into a debate on internet shorthand.

Just as with the 30 and out philosophy, it's part of Banner's plan to undermine the team.

It's the same after just about every regime change. End of the draft, end of UDFA signings, end of the line for some scouts and personnel people. Pretty normal, that happens with every team.

So, nothing unusual at all really.
