The zone was REALLY small, and some other calls from the rest of the crew were horrendous and not just against the Tribe

CB Bucknor needs to be out of baseball. He is so worthless as an umpire.

13-0 in the 9th. We need to face Cy Young winners. We beat Dickey on opening day, and beat up Price today, and he's never lost to the Tribe ...... till today. (assuming today's score holds up)

Good to see Stubbs get a couple of hits..Bad day for Cabrera and Swisher but nice not having to rely on 2-3 guys for runs..Bring on the Yankmes

I would have been happy with 3-3 going in, but with Price pitching today for the Rays, and with the Indians' bats being asleep, it looks like we'll be 2-4 going into the home opener.

3-3 is a solid road trip to open the year, especially being on the road in those buildings.
It's unreal that Masterson has 2 outings against Cy Young winners, 2 wins, 1 run total given up, and yet he hasn't looked in top form. Early on in these games he has struggled a little bit, not as much yesterday, but still you would think a run that starts 2 in a row in that situation to open the year would be lights out with those numbers.
Could be a good thing or a bad thing. Either it continues and eventually bites him in the rear, or he shakes off the early inning problems and starts putting together a great first half-rest of the season.

I saw on Baseball Tonight that Justin is only the 3rd person ever to defeat both defending CY Young winners in the same season. Of course, without interleague play and free agency for most of baseball's history, there wasn't many opportunities for that to happen, but it's still pretty cool.
I'm happy with 3-3.
It's raining buckets here in Chicago. I guess there's a 50% chance of rain in Cleveland. That would stink to have the home opener postponed due to rain. Of course, it wasn't that many years ago when the opening series was postponed because of snow (and eventually re-played in Milwaukee - 2007?).
Go Tribe.

I hope they play today because it'll be a good indicator for the season. The current Yankees lineup is one that Ubaldo should be able to handle especially with their speed guys struggling.
It would be nice to at least think we'll be able to rely on Masterson and Ubaldo and a quality start here would go a long way to that thinking.

It's probably bad that Ubaldo throws 80 MPH fastballs, right? (I am only exaggerating a little bit.)

sadly, his fastball may just be gone. his curve is still wicked but with people not respecting the fastball, they are just laying off of the curve.

Is it only in Cleveland that players leave here, and then never fail to come back and haunt us? Ah well, no whiners, I know - but jeez ....
Oh, and nice job there Ubaldo. Maybe next time you face Cano you can throw the same lame pitch you served up twice in a row today.

If this game was in Yankee Stadium, I would wonder if they're stealing signs from Santana to the pitchers. Even the outs have been well hit; nobody is being fooled.

Ubaldo isn't good. Neither is Rich Hill. That is the reason balls are flying.

Could be with the pen but Ubaldo (as others said) had NO heat at all..Stupid speculation but wonder if being the 1st game outdoors with the constant wnd threw them off a bit? Oh well still think we'll win the series (Yankees not World )

Carlos Santana diagnosed with left thumb contusion D.J. Short Apr 8, 2013, 9:31 PM EDT Link a rooskie Carlos Santana was forced to exit today’s game against the Yankees in the ninth inning after he got crossed up on a pitch from his teammate Chris Perez and was struck on the left thumb. Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports that the preliminary diagnosis is a contusion, but there should be more clarity on his status after he goes for X-rays. An extended absence would be a tough blow, as Santana is off to a fantastic start this season. The 27-year-old went 1-for-2 with two walks before exiting today and is hitting an even .500 (13-for-26) with two home runs, four doubles and five RBI through seven games. Lou Marson replaced Santana in the ninth inning today, but he might not be back to 100 percent after he suffered a neck strain in a home plate collision with Rays’ outfielder Desmond Jennings on Saturday. The Indians may have to add another catcher, even if Santana’s injury is a day-to-day situation.

Since he "pitched" tonight does that mean we get a extra few days reprieve from Meyers?

Man we have had some pitching that goes way, way beyond horrible these past couple of days. I think that it's foolish to panic early on, especially with pitchers ...... but man, I am on the verge of all out panic on out starting pitching. Of course, we aren't scoring much either, so that makes it really damn hard to win much of anything.

we were near historically bad at starting pitching last season.
we kept our SP1, SP2 and SP4 and kept them in those roles.
we "upgraded" our SP3 from Lowe/Gomez to Myers we "upgraded" our SP5 from Huff/Tomlin to Carrasco/Bauer
so, we cannot be surprised if we have near historically bad starting pitching again (though Masterson looks surprisingly good to start the year)

I agree, no time to panic..yet LOL. BUT I would like to see some glimmer of hope soon from someone other than Masterson

We have 3 wins. 2 are with Masterson pitching. The other is with Ubaldo pitching. Masterson has given up 1 run in 2 starts. The Indians gave up 2 runs in the other win. In 5 losses we have given up 45 runs.?!?!?!?! Hard to win many games doing that.

It's 1:00pm and the Indians still haven't announced a starter for tonight's game. Who could it be? Matsuzaka, Kluber, does Masterson go on 3 days rest, what a mess already.
After watching Jimenez the other day, and he only topped out at about 86, he has got to go, his velocity has been declining since the second half of his best season 2010.
If you didn't already know they will be on ESPN tonight for Wednesday night baseball.

Corey Kluber slated to start tonight, according to the Indians. They will wait to make a roster move as, in my opinion, they are desperately praying for a rainout.

Shocker. I wonder if he gets suspended as well. He just came off a suspension for throwing at Billy Butler's (?) head.

With the rate that the Tribe is giving up runs, they're going to need to hire a full complement of therapists to treat the entire roster for PTSD.

Postponed tonight. Tribe should've held off on making the move and had the flexibility to let Carrasco serve out his suspension again, or at least a few games of it.

A smart move by Francona guessing the other day that tonight's game MAY be cancelled due to the weather (we have been forecasted to get nailed for several days.) McAllister's start shouldn't change and the rotation operates as normal....with Myers...
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.
