I don't think that finding an offensive coordinator will be that difficult if we hire an offensive minded head coach. A guy like Arians has worked with a lot of different coaches throughout his career. We might even see a guy like Whipple held over if Arians is the guy. (both worked for the Steelers at around the same time, IIRC)

Yep.
I doubt that Childress will be back unless we somehow go find a WCO coach again. I don't see that happening .... at least not a pure WCO guy anyway.
If Holmgren gets a job somewhere, then I could see Childress following him.

Well...I guess it's time to move on.
Here's to getting Ken Wisenhunt.
Him and Lovie are next up on my list but really at this point none of them really stand out to me as the "we have to get this guy" like I was with Kelly.
As always now I just hope we get someone that will win some games.
Lovie doesn't know offense, Lovie doesn't do offense. Whoever is the coordinator gets control of the whole offense. That's why I'd pass on Lovie, although I do think the guy is a good coach.
Whisenhunt is interesting because of his experience in our division, and I think if you watched his teams closely, meaning more than just seeing them lose 9 straight via Sportscenter highlights) they're actually pretty good with the exception of QB and OL.
While Weeden is no world beater, he's better than anything they have over there, and I think Whisenhunt could get the best out of him.
I don't like the idea of former head coaches, because of the track record, but I think he may be the best option left.

I don't like the idea of hiring a just fired head coach without him having time to reflect on what got him fired in the first place.

Lovie was 10-6... he was fired because a new GM didn't like him.... said GM just waited a year to make up an excuse for firing him...

J/C
Banner had no business getting rid of what was in place unless he had a concrete plan in place to set in motion. - Obviously, he didnt. - How stupid.
Gotta love what is going on in Berea right now. Instead of Tom Heckert and co. focusing on the upcoming draft, evaluating which players to augment our "core" with, we have nothing. We have no gm, we have no coach. This is completely ridiculous. If Haslam were as smart as half the people in this city think he is, then he never would have hired Banner in the first place.
And when we do hire a coach and GM, why in the world would anybody think it is a better leadership situation than what we had with Heckert and Shurmer? Because, again, there apparently was no plan in place to set in motion.
Essentially, Haslam allowed Banner to get rid of Heckert and Shurmer even though there was no plan or person in mind to replace them with. - How incredibly irresponsible and stupid.
I've said it before, I have purchased season tickets for three years now and will NOT be renewing this year.

They fired him because the team collapsed for the 2nd year in a row.
Last year there were injuries, specifically to the QB ..... so that was excusable. This year was just a collapse.

Interesting only because we have both a young and very strong defense so I would have no problem with a defensive minded coach. Haslam should pull off the untinkable and get Arians as HC Wisenhunt as OC and Smith as DC.
Oh yeah and hire Kosar as marketing director because the media here loves him.
Could you imagine Kosar talking and Banner making faces. It would be priceless.

Come on Banner had an excellent plan. The plan was to get back at Andy Reid for getting him tossed out of Philly. Banner had Holmgren, Heckert and Shurmur fired which are 3 of Reid's closest friends. Plan worked to perfection. Soon it will take care of the rest of the Reid ties to Cleveland by dumphing Rhodes, Jauron and Chilly.
Now as for his plan for the building of the Browns lol He had Lombardi and McDaniels lined up but fan outrage might have put a cog in that wheel of thought.

It sure seems he should have had more of his ducks in a row before firing Heck and Shurmur. Then again, could you really go on a full campaign to replace them while they're still on the staff? It doesn't send a good message to prospective hires that you treat your current employees like that.

Hey, if we sign McCoy, than Banner can claim that is the McCoy that he was talking about being in the next coach's plans. It was a hint!

That is why I would hire a defensive minded coach. The OC would run the offense. Our HC couch do just that, be a HC. That was one of the problems Shurmur had. He spent so much time and effort being the OC he forgot to be the HC. With our defense being solid a defensive minded HC could give more responsibility to the DC and complete responsibility to the OC and focus on being the HC.
Am I perfect? No Am I trying to be a better person? Also no

How bad would it be for Colt, and his family, if Coach McCoy chose Weeden over him? lol (It's a joke people .... a joke)

He's not my number one (as if that matters) But haslam was in love with John Gruden. Make him a killer offer if he's your guy. It would make a splash and bring media attention here. As for a winning team...
San diego is the mystery. Just heard Holmgren may interview there. Very quiet on the west coast.

Gawd, I want no part of Gruden. He always seems to dump young players in favor of "veterans".
I want a coach who can develop our young players. I think that my top 2 would be Arians (Obviously) and Shanahan.

Screw Jon Gruden and his QB-wrecking ways. I'd rather have Jerry Jones as the owner, Dumbardi as the CEO, and Tim Tebow handing the ball off to Lawrence Philips and throwing passes to Rae Carruth before I'd want Gruden coaching this team...
***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy. Manziel, see Josh Gordon. Dumbass.***

I'm firmly in the Shanahan camp now. He fits the description JJ gave us. He also turned down college OC positions to focus on the NFL. His work the the 'Skins O looks like the real deal. He just might turn out to be the young up-and-comer to get us on the right track.

Hopefully the Seahawks can send them home today and we can see if this option is something they'll look into.

I agree Chuckie with his paragraph play calls would be counter-productive to our immediate future. We need shorten play calls more QB authority on the field and putting players in positions of strength. No bull headed coach that will force a foreign system on young players

I really liked him when he was with the Texans - haven't watched him much since he went up to Washington, but I agree... this could be a guy I'd get pretty excited with

Gonna have to wait until after he gets out of the hospital though....
For me now it's Arians/Shanahan/Whisenhunt in that order. If we can't get one of those guys we can hire Frosty the Snowman for all I care.

I want Haslem and Banner at his bedside as soon as this clock strikes 0:00!
Really though hopefully hes back to full speed soon, I like him a lot in terms of candidates left and hope we interview him when hes healthy.
