Browns Employee Reportedly Committed Suicide in Team Facility on Saturday
BY ALEX KAY
ON DECEMBER 2, 2012

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

We’re sad to learn that the NFL has reportedly been rocked by yet another tragic suicide. This latest news, as per Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer, concerns a Cleveland Browns team employee, who took his own life at the team facility on Saturday.

WEWS NewsChannel5, an ABC affiliate in Northeast Ohio, noted that the Cuyahoga County Coroner confirmed the report:

Breaking News: Cuyahoga County Coroner confirms an employee with the Cleveland Browns hanged himself inside a Browns storage shed...
December 2, 2012
This terrible news comes in the wake of another high-profile suicide.

The NFL is currently attempting to recover from another major tragedy that occurred this past Saturday, as Jovan Belcher of the Kansas City Chiefs murdered the mother of his child and then took his own life in the parking lot of Arrowhead Stadium.

This employee sadly chose to end his life by hanging himself in the equipment shed. There have been no details or official statements beyond Glazer’s initial Tweet.

ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Grossi has confirmed the report with one source, but noted that the organization has yet to comment on this tragic story:

Have confirmed Jay Glazer's story with 1 source, but so far team not commenting.

CBS Sports’ Josh Katzowitz noted that the name of the employee was not yet released and there are currently no more details available on the incident.

This has been a trying weekend for the National Football League, and our hearts go out to those who have been personally impacted by the heartbreaking suicide of this employee.

We will have more details as they come forth concerning this terrible incident at the Cleveland Browns facility, so please feel free to check back here on Bleacher Report throughout the day for updates.

I cannot imagine the desperation someone must feel to decide that killing themself is the only solution they have to their problems.

Like I said in another thread ...... some of this stuff does make me believe in demons. When someone with no signs whatsoever suddenly kills himself, and or himself and someone else like the kid in KC did .... it just makes me wonder why.

I've known a few.

You shouldn't have to duck, there is some truth to that. Family, financial, work, etc...

So sad, can't even imagine those kinds of thoughts going through my head.

I guess we're not the only one's unhappy with the idea of Lombardi coming back to Cleveland.

Probably family issues. Poor guy.

I'll just say..

I don't think there's a coincidence that this happened only a few days after the incident..

Suicide is the most Selfish act IMO. Everyone has problems, but you make a decision that it's best if you don't have to deal with them anymore, and all it ever does is cause others pain.

I used to think this too. Nowadays I'm not so sure.

I think that MOST people who commit suicide don't realize this aspect. They think that nobody really cares about them and what they are doing might make things easier for everyone else. Many need help but can't afford or don't know how to ask for help. It's quite the dilemma for modern society.

It's like the axiom says: Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

that's so sad,, sorry to hear about this and so sorry for his family.

Tough to deal with no doubt.

There have been days when staring right at a problem for the first time, thinking, holy cow, this isn't something I can fix. then thinking, man, this is going to hurt the family income and feeling as if, maybe my wife would be better off if I were dead.. at least she'd get the insurance money.

Fortunatly, those were fleeting thoughts.. Reality sets in, you realize, ,hey,, you kill yourself, insurance doesn't pay.. Then you buckle down and solve the problem.

But for a split second,, you can see how someone would come to that decision.

There but for the grace of god........

Definitely condolences to his family. I cannot imagine how difficult it must be to deal with a situation like this.

Never dealt with it with family internally, but have had some close friends lose loved ones to suicide. It's not easy. You don't even know what to say.

I hope the man is at peace with whatever demons he was fighting.

Eric was with the Browns for over 10 years, and really seemed like a nice guy. He will be missed and remembered fondly by many folks. RIP buddy
