Well ..... it was actually quite a nice version of "Midnight Train to Georgia" ......

Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

I do agree, it was thwe worst Nathional Anthem version I ever heard, don't think they even got 1 word or note in right. Like Ytown said, it was a pretty good as a version of Midnight Train to Georgia though.

Here's the song you're trying to link. I didn't think it was THAT terrible.

I only listened to the start of it, and couldn't listen any further.

I hate it when singers decide to change the entire cadence and rhythm of the National Anthem to suit their own "vocal styling". I believe that the Star Spangled Banner should be sung the way it was intended ..... not sung in a way that makes it almost unrecognizable.

I agree.

You're there to sing the National Anthem as tribute and respect to our country, it's freedoms and the men and women who make sacrifice for those freedoms, not to spotlight yourself.

They really should just let locals do the anthem at games. I don't even mind instrumental versions, just don't rewrite the whole song.

Is this the one you guys are talking about?

SAN FRANCISCO -- Jose Feliciano reprised a famous postseason moment Sunday evening when he sang the national anthem before NLCS Game 1.

It was Feliciano who set off a firestorm when he performed his own soulful arrangement of The Star Spangled Banner at Detroit's Tiger Stadium before Game 5 of the 1968 World Series.

"I felt bad about the controversy because they stopped playing my songs on American radio stations," Puerto Rico native Feliciano told USA TODAY Sports on Sunday. "But there was nothing wrong with what I did. Now everybody sings the national anthem the way they want.''

He says he never plays the traditional arrangement.

"Why sing a standard version?" Feliciano said. "This was the idea I had. At that time, nobody sang the national anthem with soul or heart, it was always (he begins singing the traditional verson). And I said, the hell with it, I'm going to do something different.''

Feliciano also played the controversial version at this year's opening of Marlins Park in Miami, where he was cheered, and in 2010 at a Comerica Park tribute in Detroit after the death of longtime Tigers broadcaster Ernie Harwell, who had a major role in the first rendition and in Feliciano's life.

It was Harwell, also a songwriter who had pieces recorded by B.J. Thomas and Mitch Ryder, who selected Feliciano to perform in 1968. After the national uproar over the performance on national television, Harwell had to defend his singer and his patriotism. He feared for his job. As a result, Harwell and Feliciano became lifelong friends.

A few years later, Harwell introduced Feliciano to Susan Omillian, a Detroiter who was angered by Feliciano's treatment. They later married and had three children.

In a 2003 interview with the Free Press, Harwell said: "People called me all sorts of names, saying I was a Communist."

And Feliciano said: "Some people wanted me deported -- as if you can be deported to Puerto Rico."

I agree with you guys, but I wouldn't say it was "Worst Ever!" ... I'd almost rather listen to this than one those "vocalists" stretch out the anthem over 4 minutes and try every type of vocal gymnastics they can throughout it. This one sort of reminds me of Marvin Gaye's rendition, which I didn't really care for, but some people think it's one of the "best ever"

The thing that seems to annoy me more is when an anthem goes over 2 minutes.

The whole waltz style and the acoustic guitar turn it into a whole new song. I honestly have no problem with this version at all. There's been some really horrible interpretations, though.

It's kind of like how contemporary worship has come under fire. Who honestly cares,as long as it's not something ridiculously perverse, how someone honors a higher power or their country. I'm not saying a mountain of feces would qualify as honoring either, though.

I respect the other opinion. But, I think we need to come to terms that ways of honoring and revering change over time.
