So for the first time in my life I am making the flight up to Cleveland for an actual home game. (probably going to be greeted much nicer than being a road team fan we can hope)

I am not sure where I should stay? What are the better areas in Cleveland is what I'd like to ask you guys? I am thinking about staying downtown but have no clue about the hotels there. I also am looking at Westlake and other nearby areas. If anyone has any experience with hotels/areas up there let me know ;D

Also any advice on food/stuff to do/ great tourism spots would be excellent as well!!

I'd look into getting a hotel in Middleburgh Heights right by I-71 or close to Rockside Road by I-77.

i have family in town, so others will have much better ideas of which specific hotels/areas to stay.

my one suggestion is to stay either within walking distance or along the Rapid-line. makes it easier to "enjoy" the game and not worry about getting back afterwards

CanadianDawg and I have made the pilgramage a few times to Cleveland. We typically stay downtown...its puts you near most things including the popular bar area, the mall, the RnR HOF and (most importantly) a walkable distance to the stadium.

I think we've stayed at the radisson and the hampton and both were good (from what I recall anyways... Cleveland always seems to get us lit up)

To eat...Winking Lizard. Love it there.

The Holiday inn at the old key bank downtown has ALWAYS treated me well.. so has Crown plaza downtown when we do our bus trip. Those two places are convenient. I know both have shuttle buses that will take you anywhere in the area for what ever you need like a ride to the flats or warehouse district ( they change the names could be oregon) they will even take you down to the stadium or by the muni lot. I hope that helps.

Westlake is a nice area, with that said.... it's a 20-25 min drive downtown. in the end it will end up being best to just spend the extra 50.00 and stay downtown.

there is one by the lake over by jones day that is really decent in price

Going to agree with alot of the others. I would stay downtown. Most of the things your going to want to do see are going to be in that area. If your off Rockside in Independence or Westlake your looking at, as said a 20-25 min ride at best. paying for parkiing and having to drive down there to see any sights and paying for parking again.

You have R&R Hof hard rock cafe casino science center all right there. The museum's are all within a short drive or bus ride away. West bank of the flats has comedy clubs along with I think w3rd street. Havent been to the flats in while.

Gateway area has alo‹ of resturants if you head down that way is where Winking Lizard, Flannerys(Sp?) and many others are along with the House of Blues. If you come in on Friday grab a Plain Dealer paper they have a Friday section which list alot of things going on in town over the weekend. Worth the 75 cents for sure.

Like charlotte said - Holiday Inn Express - down town - just off 9th st, on Euclid. Wife and I have stayed there many times. Nice hotel (for what we need/want for a Browns game), clean...........just re-did all the rooms (wood floors now - now worry about the previous person's "left overs" in the carpet.)

And, close to fun things.

We also stayed, one time - about a block or 2 away - can't remember the name of the place - but across the street, a block over, was the Cav's arena. It was more expensive - but it was fine for what we wanted/needed.

I just stayed in Independence, and it was pretty really nice.

We stayed at a Double Tree, nice place, annoying that the fire alarm went off cuz someone decided smoking in the room was smart.

If you go back there head down to route 21 go north and you have 2 really good resturants Harrys Steak House. Good food good prices and panniniis just north of there.
Look for the cloverleaf bowling alley they are basically across the street from there.

Both times I have been over to Cleveland I stayed for 10 days. My first trip was at the Holiday Inn express that Arch refers to, nice hotel close to everything you need.

Last year I stayed at the Hilton Doubletree Lakeside, this hotel was very nice. Indoor pool, nice bar, great service and I would highly recommend this place.

Enjoy your trip and if you get the opportunity meet up for a beer or 2 with some of the board members you wont regret it!
