Who are your underdogs that youre rooting for to be on this team come final cuts?
for me theres a few guys I'd love to see take a roster spot from someone...
David Sims...man has he played well, love him LJ Fort Craig Robertson Dan Gronkowski...I think he poses a threat that Evan Moore doesnt. Brian Schaefering...the man is the definition of high motor Auston English...I really like the kid and think that he looks the part and would be a high motor edge guy for us. Can he be better than Benard and Parker? I think so...but I think he is more of a run stopper than pass rusher, although in all of the games hes played for us he's registered several pressures in those games.
Who are your underdogs you want to make the roster that may not?

Nice idea for a topic. I assume a lot of us will have the same players for various reasons. I really want to see Robertson make the squad, especially after reading his story that was posted a few days ago. The kid seems like someone we could all associate with. Others I'd like to see: JMJ ... While he's not an underdog to make it, I hope he produces a lot Ronnie Cameron ... I know his family quite well .. he's a heck of a guy, plus, maybe I could get some tickets Sims, simply because I don't like Usama Young's game Wade, only because I like the style of play. He seems tough.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Dockery as well would be awesome. I enjoy the kid.

S Simms (over Young) CB Wade (over Dockery) FB Smelley (I think he offers a lot of versatility Marecic was supposed to.) WR Norwood (Not sure if he's considered "bubble" or not) S E. Davis (over Young. played CB in college and excellent tackler... also had PD in each of the first two games IIRC)
Everyone else I have a strong opinion to be on the team is probably on the team already. I think we're only keeping 5 corners, but if we keep 6 I'd like the 6th to be CB Johnson Bademosi.

Josh Cooper. We haven't had the white guy, slot receiver since Mike Furrey.
Montario Hardesty. Everyone harps on him because of injuries (something he can't really control). It would be nice if he could add something.
Reggie Hodges. Always good to see a good guy come back from a terrible injury.

I like Obi/1 over Jackson .. Wade & Sims over Young .. A trio of the Young L/backers .. Anyone but Parker .. Hope we can stash Cooper and the Kid from Toledo on the PS.

Gronkowski and Cooper are 2 I hope can show enough to make the team. I think English is completely on the bubble as is Shaf. Good chance perhaps only 1 of those 4 will though.
Sims I dont know I think he should make the squad to start. Fort is another that needs to really keep preforming over the next 2 weeks.
I didnt mention wade because I think his spot is safe but Ive been wrong about alot of final cuts that hang out on the bubble.
Lol I think we as fans are going to be as interested in the next round of cuts as the players themselves will be.
Good thread.
If you need 3 years to be a winner you got here 2 years to early. Get it done Browns.

Punter, Spencer Lanning.
Hodges is proven, but Lanning is better.
I hope this last two week audition being a placekicker as well is enough to land him a roster spot.
Phil isn't getting any younger and Hodges may not have much longer on his contract.
I like the idea of a guy who does both. I know some worry about injury, you lose two positions, but I don't. I don't plan on guys being injured. A injury hurts you one game.
NFL Kicker of any sort is about as exclusive a club as it gets. There are 32 jobs....or 64 if you count it both ways. You can audition 12 guys on Tuesday and have a solid replacement on Sunday.
There are a lot of good kickers out there. Seeing as placekickers typically hold jobs 15 years and punters maybe a little less, much has to do with the year you come out of college, so lot's of guys who could have been HOF kickers maybe never even got the shot.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

Interesting I had not even looked at that way however I can see exactly what you are saying. I will root for the kid only because you are actually looking at things in a realistic way and you are probably right that many Pro Bowls have never been made because they never really had a chance.

I'd really love to see Adonis Thomas catch on. Gotta root for a fellow MAC guy.
I doubt he stays with us, but I hope he at least gets a shot with another team. No doubt the guy has ridiculous speed.

Fort, Wade, Ronnie Cameron, and Gronkowski are names I'm also keeping an eye on. I would love to see even one of these guys make a splash on the team. It's nice to have a hype story in the pre-season but it would be nice if some of these guys make team and help provide depth (especially on defense where we need it) that would be excellent.

Wr's- Gordon, cribs, little, benji, norwwood, Cooper. Srry momass, he can't stay healthy, IMHO overrated. Cooper cuz of weeden. May be a good stablizer for weeden when he is flustered. Wade/Simms - have played well and shown flashes. Cut young Smelly - I like the dual position. Hopefully in future he's proficient at both spots an enables us to free up a spot. Cut marice. A. Thomas - I thnk he can be a good 3rd down back. And do some returns. Cut b. Jackson, always liked him but IMHO he is over the hill. T. Lewis- I say cut Wallace and stick with the game plan of drafting and developing young talent. REALITY CHECk: if we are down tom our third qb, the season is probably not going to be successful. Who wants to pay for a high priced 3rd string qb. Develop talent.
Cut - please oh please get rid of cousins. Also cut Evan Moore, Wallace, momass, u. Young, mitchel, b. Jackson, and if hardesty gets injured ever again... Bye bye.

Austin English is the forgotten guy but like Sims this year, he is always making the big play whenever he is in the game. Something to be said for guys like that.

He's played 7 regular season games in his career with 4 tackles.
He has no tackles, sacks, or anything else through 2 pre-season games.
I haven't heard a single question about him this pre-season. Shurmur hasn't brought him up at all that I can remember.
Not a good sign for him. A guy in his position better get noticed. He doesn't seem to be showing much right now.

Well, in all fairness to the guy, no one is going to touch Oniel Cousins as our team's top tackler.

Unfortunately, he is probably going up against Cousins in practice ...... and not making any real kind of impact. Definitely not a good sign.

Tough to make a tackle when a guy has you in a headlock.
