Browns | Team may be interested in Wright
Mon, 19 Mar 2007 16:02:07 -0700

Tony Grossi, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports the Cleveland Browns would be interested in unrestricted free-agent QB Anthony Wright (Bengals) if the team decides to sign a veteran quarterback.

KFFL

Will the pillage continue?

::sigh:: this is why I hate KFFL

Grossi puts a retarded blurb in his one article about "hey, we're the only team in the AFC North that Wright hasn't played for, we should go get him" and now it's a "KFFL Reports that Tony Grossi says the team would be interested....blah, blah, blah.".

In fact, HERE is what Grossi wrote.

Quote:

If the Browns do add a veteran quarterback in free agency, a name to keep in mind is Anthony Wright. He broke into the league with Pittsburgh, played five years in Baltimore and ended last season with Cincinnati. The Browns are the only team in the AFC North for which Wright has not played.

KFFL completely misrepresented what was said to the point of fabricating information.

I've considered banning them as a source for articles and only allowing the actual articles that they pillage their info from. There is no KFFL specific information at all, it's all reposted info from papers around the country... and obviously it's barely credible as they require human intervention to post it, so they don't even always get it right.

I agree.

I hate a lot of these rumors. Many of them (like this one) aren't even legit.

Why? Just a waste of Cap space. I'd rather draft a QB in the 6th or 7th round or even keep Lang Campbell around then rather sign this guy...

why would we even think of picking him up?

right now, i'd rather have charlie and DA over wright...

not to mention that we may draft a qb in the draft, even if we take peterson or thomas in the first round, that doesn't rule out taking one in any of the other rounds...

i've seen enough of wright to know what he's like at his best...

charlie at least has a bit of upside, and anderson has shown flashes of being a solid qb...

you would think with the protection that cincinnati provides their qb's that wright would have done better...

As long as Frye isn't the starter, I don't care who we sign.

As long as we didn't overpay him, why does everybody think this would be a waste of money? All I have been reading for quite some time is how we need a vet backup QB. There is not much to choose from and if anyone is going to say that DA is better than Wright, I'm now rolling on the floor laughing, my side hurts, I have tears streaming down my face, and I'm about to pee my pants.

Wright has scrambling ability and can do enough to get the job done. Would I want him for our long term starter, hell no, but he could be a very solid backup.

Interesting... nice detective work. Grossi didn't report that the Browns are interested at all, was just supposing, but KFFL put the spin on it. I wonder why they'd spin it that way.

Because it reads better this time of year ? Who knows.

KFFL relies on (from what I understand, unpaid, volunteer) individuals in each city to read their local articles and then "report" what they find in those articles. So you have a bunch of fanboy wannabes out there that can pretty much report whatever they want with bare minimal (if any) oversight/fact checking. All of KFFL is just a case of a "reporter" reporting what other reporters have written... and as we've seen, they can't even do that right.

It's really just as credible (barely) as another forum post somewhere, so technically they shouldn't be allowed at all without a link to the originating article now that I think about it, hehe.

And, I thank you, but it's not really good detective work, I just happened to recall the paragraph Grossi wrote regarding this coupled with an inherent distrust/dislike for KFFL

Yeah I know,, sucks doesn't it.. couple that with all the stupid rumors and smokescreens and it's enough to drive a semi sane fan over the edge....LOL
