Anybody playing this game? I have purchased the FIFA franchise every year it comes out. This year, I waited until the start of the EURO to purchase FIFA 12. Two things: A) I love it. It expands on what FIFA 11 did best and improves what it did worst. B) It's harder than last year. Let me explain part B. I play on professional most of the time. I have yet to win a game (lots of draws). I have been playing it now for two weeks. I took the difficulty down 1 notch to semi-pro. I score 10 goals in the first half. There is a huge disparity between the difficulty settings. Does anyone have any tips for playing on professional? I feel like an idiot because I can't beat the computer on medium difficulty. p.s. I have been playing soccer since I was 5 and played throughout college...so if you have tips, keep that in mind

LOL
I have the same problem with NHL. If I play on the medium difficulty, I crush my opponent 5-1 every game. If I notch it up, I lose 1-0 and struggle to get off good shots.
I have noticed with FIFA 12, you can really get physical when you're defending around your goal. When you use circle button (PS3) you can kinda shoulder grab the guy and take him off the ball without a foul being called.
I agree though. This game is fantastic. The interface for configuring your team is slightly improved. The deadline day is a lot of fun. I like that you get feedback from your players.
I'm using a team in NP2 and trying to get them all the way to Premier league. It's an excellent game.
FIFA might be the most complete sports game EA has to offer aside from probably NCAA football.

An EA Sports game with a great difference between two levels of difficulty?
NO WAI!!!
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

Yeah, I like that they added that feature. I remember days of my coach planting my butt on the ground teaching me about getting leverage with my hips. lol. It was a welcome addition to make it more life-like.

I just made a player-manager franchise w Hereford. The reason I picked them is because I liked their jerseys and I, too, wanted to work up to the EPL. Three games in, three draws. It seems like I can always get a quick goal in the first 25 minutes, and then it's a stalemate until the 85th minute, and then the computer pwns me.
I cannot for the life of me play in just a "player" career. I like playing with the formation I am comfortable with (4+3+1+2) and having the ability to play super aggressive or super defensive.

Absolutely. I love the multiple game modes. I REALLY like their career mode. The achievement notebook, the editing, the ability to play w your guy online, offline, in a career, etc.
I also love Ultimate Team.
It really is a complete game. My only wish is that they would have more stadiums, but that will happen as soon as the disc space gets bigger. Watching the MLS game on Sunday in Portland made me wish I was playing in Portland's stadium with the crowd singing and chanting the entire game. That is one aspect that I think they still have to work out.

I bought Fifa 12 when it first came out and haven't stopped playing it since then. I have never played it on any difficulty level other than the "Legendary" level. I play my Manager Mode with Barnsley, starting off in the league below the Premier League. I still lose sometimes, but I win a lot. My advice would be to master passing. Short passes to slowly move your way up the pitch then try to get a man one-on-one and make a move to get passed him. Defense is harder for me, I regularly have 4-3 games and rarely have clean sheets. I have found the best defense for me is to keep possession of the ball through passing. I also have a lot of speedy defenders who can chase down strikers if they get away from me. If you play Manager Mode it is fun to get young players cheap and make them better. Here is a site that has a very thorough breakdown of all the good young players in the game (it also has good old players, good lower-league players, etc.) Good luck!

Thanks for the tips! I am a pass-centric offensive guy, and I usually am around 65-70% possession by the end of the game. My main problem is: I cant stop them from scoring in the last 10 minutes or so of the game! lol also, thanks for that website!

The one thing that sucks, and it's not really the fault of the team who make FIFA, is not having the UEFA setup. I believe you still play the champion's league, but it's just called something else. I would like to see them score the license, but I believe PES or one of the other soccer games owns that license exclusively.
Still, it's such a great game. I love that there are so many teams to choose from. I think that's why I love NCAAF so much too. Both career/dynasty modes for those games are incredible and are head and shoulders above most other sports games. (The Show is up there too)

I'm still playing Fifa 09. I'll most likely upgrade to 13 when it comes out later this year, so it's good to hear that it's still a great game.

3 games last night on professional, 2 draws and 1 loss. I was winning all 3 going into the 85th minute.

the computer becomes unstoppable! The game I lost, they scored 2 goals after the 85th minute and the 2nd goal actually went THROUGH my goalie's body.

That sounds like an EA Sports trademark too. Sort of like how you've got a defensive shutout going in NCAA and suddenly the opposing quarterback becomes Joe Montana and the receivers become Techmo Bowl Bo Jackson.

The one thing that I like about FIFA and probably more with the EPL is the system they use for player movement. Transfers. Buying players, earning your money through winning tournaments and leagues, etc.
Pretty cool how you can try and figure out the best way to build your team through purchasing players on either loan or purchasing them entirely. With the budget and everything, it's pretty cool.

Man, I have to start playing again. I miss playing with my Virtual Pro (Carlos Shitebalsak - for some unknown reason, EA won't let his name display while playing online ). I liked FIFA 12, and 11, with how you build your character off and online games....AND you can use him while playing online. It's so freaking cool. For me, that's how I can play on very hard difficulty levels, I'm only playing my character and focusing on his responsibilities. There are a few cheats methods to building your Virtual Pro faster. The most obvious, increase the player sliders....but that's not very fun. I just play against the worst teams in the game on the hardest difficulity level. I can stockpile stats but not in an obscene way.

where is that at? in my virtual pro, i can only change the sliders as i change my appearance (i.e. height, weight, build, etc)
and also, i agree with everything you said. my favorite part is that i can put my virtual pro on any team, but i can also play as anyone on that team, call plays, etc.
i love they way they do it in FIFA. i wish the other games would adopt that way of doing it

Oh, its just the last two tabs in the game settings screen (in-game pause menu). You can make you or the computers players fast or slow, pass accurate or messy, shoot like a well-trained sniper or how I play real life soccer and even increase injury rates (though once the computer reaches three, they stop getting injured - though a few still limp around).
I always wanted to lower the speed of the CPU while on the harder levels. I've never understood why EA makes players faster as the difficulty goes up....just make their execution better, keep their body stats the same. Player X should have 85 speed on all levels.....but his passing, shooting, defensive and marking abilities should drop. It seems like such a lazy way to code in difficulty.
Oh well.

I hate difficulty levels on sports games.
There shouldn't be any. If you are playing Madden and you have the Browns and are playing New England or Green Bay, it should be difficult. You are what you are. To dumb down Aaron Rodgers or Greg Jennings is kind of stupid to me.
They should have two playable levels. Real life and little kid mode, than nobody would ever play little kid mode, lol.

About the sliders, I forgot about that. I never touch them. I would like to decrease the slider for calling offsides - it's so ticky tack I completely agree with the speed thing/higher difficulty! I think they tried to do that with Madden 12, though. I think (my memory is not always accurate) that they said when you go up to all-madden, the speed of the players stay the same with this year's version. I've always had a gripe about that. I've created guys in sports games that have 99 speed and on the hardest setting, i get tracked down from behind. It does not make 1 bit of sense I agree with the above poster. There should be 2 difficulties: real-life or something like an arcade mode. Btw, not that anyone cares, but I am on a 6 game winning streak. Thanks for all the tips! I've tried to emulate the way Spain plays these last couple games, as well as not attempting any slide tackles at all. I will pass like crazy and attempt through balls (never used that button much until now). If I don't have a clean shot, I'll pull it out and pass it around. As long as I keep possession, I do pretty well. I still get the super aggressive computer around the 80th minute, but I put my team in ultra defense mode and that has seemed to work. Another tip that's been helping me is marking my man. Instead of taking a player and running after the ball (when the computer has the ball), I mark the man and stick with him. This eliminates their passing, which we know is what wins games.

i am in a player-manager career and my virtual pro is on my team, but i play as the full squad.
i just favorite him a little bit - i.e. let him take free kicks, penalties, get him the ball in front of the goal at all times, etc
