49ers release long snapper Ryan Pontbriand

The 49ers announced they released long snapper Ryan Pontbriand Friday.

He was one of three snappers in camp, along with veteran Brian Jennings and Kyle Nelson.

According to 49ers beat writer Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com, the apparently diabolical Pontbriand struggled during minicamp.

And because I trust Maiocco implicitly, and would never suspect him of any character assassination, we’ll leave it at that. web page

Ryan served us well for a lot of years.. was worth a 5th round pick and maybe the best pick to come out of the Butch Davis Era.

But when you're done, you're done.

Don't understand the diabolical comment at all...

It's that kind of thinking that leads teams to singing Long Snappers off the couch...

And then paying for it in a playoff game...

Ask Trey Junkin.

Maybe some of us have a soft sport for a player who loves his team, his team mates, and Browns fans. A guy who gave it his all not just in the game but in practice as well. A man who you would be glad to call a friend.
