I don't tend to order tickets to events online, so I guess I hadn't realized how much of a pain it has become. I just ordered tickets to go see The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee in Columbus at the end of April (tickets went on sale this morning). For a show like that, where it is more dialogue than special effects, seating doesn't matter as much to me, so we got balcony seats, $25/seat, which isn't a bad price at all. I found a few seats I wanted (why is there no specification on their site for aisle seats, or rear row seats, etc???) and ordered them. My subtotal was $50, then add on $7.40/ticket in handling costs, $2.50/ticket in maintenance fees and a $4.75 processing fee and I'm basically paying half again my total just to get the tickets mailed here (Thank goodness I ordered early, because same week delivery is an additional $25. Even printing them off at home instead of having them mailed to you costs an extra $2.50!). That just doesn't seem right to me. If the show wasn't in Columbus, I'd go to the box office and hopefully avoid some of those costs. I knew there were handling fees, but it seems like it keeps getting more and more excessive...

Sorry about the rant, it just doesn't seem quite right to me...

It's not just TicketMaster. I use ticketliquidator.com for tickets to things that are sold out, and they charge $15 for shipping plus like $2 for each ticket for a service charge.

The home phone bill was a total ripoff!

I switched to cable phone service, so I get my cable, phone and internet from the same company for a little over a hundred a month. Can't complain there.

No, its just a show that I enjoyed the soundtrack of and didn't get to see it in New York, so I'm catching the tour stop in Columbus.

All I could think of was Randy and Jason from that show that used to be on ESPN2.Cheap seats. Funny show and the best ones was where they did the spelling bees.

Take a closer look at your phone bill. You may be getting charged a

Federal access charge
911 emergency system charge
federal universal service fee
federal taxes
state taxes
county taxes
federal universal service fund
and other fees

Not since I switched to the cable phone. It's a straight 29.99 a month with a huge local calling area and 100 minutes of free nationwide long distance. Plus the feeling I got when telling Ameritech to shove it was priceless.

They probably throw in a few fees.....but my bill is almost exactly 30 bucks more than what I was paying for cable/internet. The package discount probably made up the difference.
