I'll bet you a six pack they take a WR at 37, and then waste another pick on Adams (and trade up to get him nonetheless).

Meet the new boss same as the old boss.

It seems to be Heckert's MO.

I think we will probably trade up from 37 , because Heckert will panic again.

Hardesty, Taylor, Richardson and Weeden. There's a trend here and I don't care for it one iota.

I bet that our receivers are excited about the prospect of being able to go deep next year

Now they can drop 15 yard post route passes instead of 4 yard out route passes. Go team!

I'll not defend the pick, but niether will I condemn it.
Decastro to the Stealers sucks.

At 37 we willnot go oline.Martin is best suited for the leftside and Glenn willbe moving his rather large behind inside.
We still need alot of help on the D side.

How many passes did they drop after Wallace took over?

I really think that the receivers were tired of getting thrown into kill shots. That played into some of the drops.

I still think WR is where we should go at 37 unless there is a run on WR's before our next pick.

Perhaps ..... but i still kinda have visions of a Gronkowski type TE dancing in my head.

Unfortunately, he'll probably be gone by the time we pick.

Well I'll say one thing. since 2003 it's seemed like we have to wait for few and far between to get fixes on the offensive skilled positions. They've tried everything else and draft right near the top each year. At least they're attempting to fix the offense.

So what's the trend there?

The way I see it:

Taylor, Weeden, Little, Marecic and 50% of TR >>>> J.Jones and a 3rd

Well, except for Hardesty, all of those guys were excellent picks.

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Well in Hardestys case they traded up to a 2nd rounder and gave up a later pick in the 3rd to 5th round range.

In Phil Taylors case they traded up from 28 to 22 and gave up a a 3rd round pick.

In Brandon Weedens case, they took a player who may have been found later, and that is the compensation ( waited on for a year) for trading out of the #7 pick last year, ( the biggest part of the compensation).

In Trent Richardson's case, they trade up and gave up 3 mid round picks 4th - 7th
#118, 139, and 211.

The trend is The Browns can't keep their picks, or draft where they are supposed to, or don't want to.

My bad it is FL Dawg who doesn't care for it. There is a point here.

Browns lost a staring contest. Fell in love with a shiny new car and made a very questionable business decision. Trading up 1 spot.

Hindsight, is hindsight. IN hindsight, I'd rather they'd taken Claibourne and kept the 3 picks, of course I wanted Tannehill, didnt even want Richardson in the first place.
Well Thank God the NFL will force the Browns to keep some lesser talent by forcing them to use their comp picks.

Only problem is the only compensatory picks the Browns get are all over 200 which is close to the end of the draft at 253.

This has been one offseason for a short lifetime.
St Louis, Washington, Tampa Bay, and Minnesota, 4 teams to get over on the Browns, only 27 left.

Maybe you will feel differently this morning.

I like the picks.

Richardson gives us a special player(on paper) at running back.

Weeden gives us a big arm and maturity at the position. Sure, he is still going to have his learning curve, but I don't think it will be anywhere near as long as it is with a 21 year old. The fact he has played a pro sport is huge. Different sports no doubt, but the mentality required as a pro transcends the type of ball used. And this idea he is to old is crazy. He can play 10-11 years. When in the hell was the last time a QB for this team played here for 10 years? Maybe Bernie but I don't think he did. Sipe I think was the last, so get over the fact his age takes a few years away.

No go get a RT and a wideout and we have something to help turn things around.

Look at the bright side, with his experience, we might still get a 3rd rounder for Colt when we trade him in August. Maybe even a 2nd if some team has a starter hurt late in camp.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Yesterday the Browns had 5 still to come in these rounds Prior to pick #160.
Today they have 3

They gave up 2 picks #118, and #139 in between the 100 and 160 range.

Here are some former Browns picks # taken 110-150.
in 01, J Pharms, did not report.
in 02, Ben Taylor, lb, Darnell Sanders te, and Andra Davis lb,

in 03, Lee Suggs, rb, Ryan Pontbriand, and Michael Lehan 152

in 04 well noone but Luke McGown went 106, and Amon Gordon dt went 161.

in 05, David McMillian De 139
in 06, Leon Williams lb, Isaac Sowells ot, 110, 112, and Jerome Harrison 145
in 07, Brandon McDonald db at 140
in 08, Martin Rucker at 111,
in 09, nobody but Kaluka Maiava went 104, and Don Carey 177

in 2010 Larry Asante,
in 2011, Owen Marecic went 124, Buster Skrine 137, and Jason Pinkston 150

So that's about the kind of player they won't get to select at 118, and 139, not to mention 211 overall because of the trade yesterday.

I'm still angry and of course I hope for the best, but NO ONE would have taken this guy before pick #37....he's an instant QB controversy waiting to happen because of his age and no other team was in that big of a need at QB once Miami took Tannehill. As I've posted before, I would have been pissed to draft him before 3rd round especially when you have Reiff and Decastro sitting right there to fix HUGE holes. I just don't get it....totally reached on it

I'm with you wojo. I was with a buddy and we were both in shock...speechless... when they showed Weeden and made it known he would be our pick (which annoyed me about last night...Berman kept telling us the picks!! I thought he wasn't going to do that?!)

It's a very big risk IMO, and it screams "All-In" by H and H. Unfortunately, like Kenny Rodgers says...you gotta know when to hold em, know when to fold em, know when to walk away, and know when to run... we weren't very smart last night IMO

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Sounded like a lot of Browns fans I was with last night and emails from my buddies back home....but they were talking about the 2012 season

Funny ......

I'm still smiling ear to ear.

I think we may be the only two trying to defend the Weeden pick...

Remember when all of you laughed at the Bengals for taking Dalton last year?

It's growing on me.... and it sounds like they really wanted to get Richardson, Wright, and Weeden all in the first and since Wright was gone they went ahead and took Weeden at 22.
