OP thrilla81 Rookie T Joined: Aug 2008 Posts: 41	I was listening to Bruce Drennan and he was talking about the teaser teams (teaser meaning teams that got Browns fan hopes up only to come up short)that the Browns fans have had since 1964. He mentioned the 1980 Kardiac Kids, 1986-1987 Browns. I was wondering why no one ever mentions Bud Carson's 1989 AFC championship team. It seems to be the trend with most. Is this because the title game was less interesting? or the team's record? I mean this team did beat the Bills which were probably more talented than the divisional opponents from 1986 and 1987. I am younger fan I was wondering why this team gets overlooked

He was in really bad shape. We eked out some wins, including a tie. We had a 3 or 4 game losing streak that we barely snapped against the Vikings in OT. The season just felt very disjointed. It was the first time that Kosar showed some signs that maybe his run was coming to an end. I was fairly young when all that went down, but I remember that season fairly well. Slaughter had a hell of a season. LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

PDR Legend P Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 11,465	Good question. I would guess that it's because there wasn't such a dramatic failure in the end. The game was a close Cleveland comeback at one point, but Denver just kind of hammered them in the fourth.

Slaughter had a hell of a season. Thanks for the replies. You know the funny thing about Kosar is how early he peaked. I mean he was only turning 26 years old during the 1989 season; yet he never enjoyed anymore greatness after that. Which is bizarre when you consider that most QBs dont peak until late 20s early 30s.
