Anyone own a Kia? more specifcly an OPTIMA?
lol the new ones look so awesome...but when it's all said and done it's a freakin' KIA and i refuse to buy it lol...but i won't lie for the money u get a pretty damn good car(as far as options go) no clue how Kia is supposed to be overall as a car maker since they are fairly "new"
So just wondering if anyone owns one and what they think of it.

I have owned an Optima and a Rio. The Optima was a 2003 and ran great to 130K miles for me before I sold it, I sold to a friend and he has probably put another 20K on it without any problems. The Rio, I bought used last year. It had 56K miles on it, it is an 04 and so far (knock on wood) it has been a great little car.

How u been Sean? haven't really seen u on here in a while...well mayb cuz post pretty randomly on here haha...
Yah man..they look like great cars...i don't know why i'm so relactant on buying a KIA...cuz for the same amount of money i would get a very very low end of another brand name like Acura or Holda and with the same money i can get the best Kia has to offer as far as fully loaded cars go(nav, sports package, mpg etc etc)
The only thing really buggin me is the name "KIA" on the car.

Well, if it helps, underneath it's a Hyundai. My mother-in-law has an Optima (2004 I think). She's got a ton of miles on it - not sure of the number. Her commute to work is 40 miles one way. Hasn't had any major service issues on it yet. Brakes, oil changes, tires...you know, the expected.

The new Kia Optima with the Turbo and 275 HP looks like a pretty nice runner. Not sure of the pricing. Nice looking car.
Friend of mine has one that's about 5 years old now. they seem to like it a lot. Haven't heard them say anything negative.
I understand your reluctance to buy anything named Kia.. Kinda makes me cringe a little also.
In the end, it's your money. if buying one makes you uncomfortable,, don't do it.

I rented one a few weeks ago on one of my Cleveland trips.
It was nice....looked great, comfortable, nice feel.
I think they have a 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty ....not bad.
I'd buy one.
There was a time not so long ago people were afraid to buy a Toyota or Honda, so I wouldn't let that sway your buying decision.

Thanks for the feedback guys.....i'm thinking about test driving one this week and see how it goes...
Damnan- yes the turbo one is the one i'm lookin at....it's aprox 25k base and with options about 27k (kind of makes me want to buy a used acura TL or something smiliar for that amount, but why spend that much on a used when u can get a new one with the same options)
Also they have crazy warranty like peen mentioned.....10 year or 100k for both powertrain and basic warrenties 5 year 60k road side assistance....these are WELL beyond what other car companies offer(toyota, honda, etc)
Looking really hard for reasons not to buy one...and all i keep coming back with is that it's a "kia" lol sigh..we shall see how the test drive goes. I really love the way the car looks

I hear ya.. they make it hard to ignore that car.
Gotta say this also,, has anyone seen the commercial where Hyaundi is saying they will guarantee trade in value of thier cars?
Not sure what the details are, but damn,, knowing what you will get on a trade in is an interesting concept..

Bought one brand new in 2003, 157,000 miles not a thing wrong with it.

My lady friend has one, and she loves it. She's used to a bit higher end cars, but she got this one brand new about a year ago, and she drives it constantly (Real estate agents kinda have to down here...lol) No problems at all with it. The Nav and extra package was worth it. Very reasonable and excellent gas mileage.
