Marijuana delivered to home of Bengals' Jerome Simpson

PUBLISHED Thursday, Sep 22, 2011 at 9:40 am EDT by Clifton Brown Sporting News

Authorities discovered six pounds of marijuana in the home of Bengals wide receiver Jerome Simpson, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer. The discovery was made after a 2 1/2-pound shipment of marijuana was allegedly delivered to Simpson’s home Wednesday. Offensive lineman Anthony Collins was also present when the delivery was made.

The report says that authorities suspect the home is a marijuana distribution center. Packaging materials, scales and smoking devices were also discovered inside the home. Neither player had been arrested as of Wednesday night, and both Simpson and Collins participated in Wednesday’s practice.

Simpson had a career-high 136 yards on four catches during Sunday’s loss to the Broncos. Collins is a fourth-year backup tackle who did not play against the Broncos.

Bengals spokesman Jack Brennan told the Enquirer that the team was aware of the report, but he offered no further comment. More details were expected to come Thursday from prosecutors in the Cincinnati area.

Heard on Cincinnati radio there was another woman in the house who signed for the package. Some were speculating that it may have been her marijuana.

As for Simpson, he waits for his opportunity for almost three years and likely will throw his entire career away over this. Can't believe the stupidity of some NFL players.

I have no problem if someone wants to get high....more power to you. Don't care. But if you're a professional athlete? Man, you're earning window is so small, don't risk it. Earn your butt off, retire with millions in the bank and then toke up all you want through your retirement. Why put your career at risk for something like this?

the radio people really want to believe that there is 8.5lbs of pot in the house (after the package was delivered) and that Simpson was not involved?

And the woman was just a very precise cook, that's why she needed that scientific scale.

Too many cooked, spoils the broth. Did it come with 20 pounds of twinkies and a bucket of cheezwhiz and other munchies madness items as well. Career is up in smoke. This is horrible.

PS I should feel more surprised . . . .

When your getting pot by the pound, your not just smoking it, your selling it.
