That's great! It's something I've never considered doing, though.

There was a time when I wanted to try it, and could have easily enough... but now, there's no way I will jump out of an airplane. No freakin' chance. Sounds like you had a blast though, I imagine it would be quite a thrill.

I did a static line jump years ago (about 4000 ft). Only a couple of seconds of free fall but you're on your own the whole way down. It was fun and I always intended to do a free fall jump at some time but never got around to it. I use to be a thrill seeker but not so much anymore.
I did a 550 ft bungy jump years ago also. That was scarier than jumping out of the plane since it was so high up.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

I heard this somewhere ... but can't recall where ..... but it fits .......
It's a perfectly good plane ..... why the hell would I jump out of it?

Glad you enjoyed it When my wife and I first started dating about 8 years ago she had mentioned she always wanted to go skydiving. We've been married for 5 years now and for her b-day last summer I got her a gift certificate to go skydiving. She was shocked, excited and completely nervous to do it. She did the tandem jump from 13,000 ft and said it was a thrill of a lifetime. I'd like to go myself sometime.

My sentiments exactly.
Sounds like you had a good time, though!

FOR EVERYONE SAYING "NO THANKS!"
lol it's HONESTLY not that bad...i think i would be more scared of doing a bunji jump cuz u could clearly see where u will go splat if something goes wrong LOL....with the skydiving it's VERY safe now...sure there are accidents but it's like 1% chance of something going wrong...and even then it's mostly like u came down too hard on ur landing or something and twisted an ankle.
I would urge you guys to try it or at least talk to people you know who have done it. It def changed my life...
I wanted to post a pic...but it's too large for here...some of you are fbook friends with me...it's my profile pic right now lol...
LOVEDDDDD IT!

I might try that next instead of doing a solo from 12000ft +......so i can get a feel for the shoot w/o worrying and going through the free fall which scared the shyt out of me lol...for the first 4-5secs anyway....

I was afraid of heights so I jumped (tandem @ 12,000 feet) to face my fear. Once we got airborne, the dive master said, "If you're thinking of backing out, forget it. Trust me when I tell you that it's safer to jump than it is to land in this POS." The plane was held together with bailing wire and duct tape. Standing in the doorway was the most scary moment of my life, but after I left the plane the feeling of exhilaration was the most amazing high I'd ever experienced. The free fall was incredible, as was the total peace after we deployed the canopy. After we left, we drove to the nearest restaurant, gorged ourselves, then went home and passed out. Incredible adrenaline rush.
Loved it so much, I decided to do it again. I would go tandem twice, then take the 45 minute course and go solo. We got up, I told the guy I wanted to guide us down, he said sure. We jumped, free fell, when we hit 5000' I deployed the chute. I was hanging there waiting for the guy to hand me the control lines when I heard him say, "Uh-oh." I looked up and we had snapped several liines. He told me we would have to cut away.
Jumping from a plane isn't so bad because there is no real sensation of falling, but cutting away when you're in canopy is lie being help by the shoulders then being dropped from a fifty story building. My stomach flew to my throat and I was sure I was going to die. Fortunately, the spare deployed 20 seconds later.
As we were coming down, I realized that the second deployment had jammed the harness up, cutting off the circulation in my femoral artery, causing me to get light headed, and have sinus headache-like symptoms. To make matters worse, we couldn't get down. There was a 25mph updraft, and we'd get to 1500' and it would blow us back up to 2500', we'd get to 2000' and we'd get blown back up to 3000, etc. Meantime, the guy on my back is trying to keep me engaged saying things like, "You okay?" "We'll be down in a minute" "Talk to me." So I said, "Get me the #*@& down!" He cranked the control line, and we went circling in like a commando about to hit the beach. We landed in a tumble, but alive.
Everyone came running over, they had all seen our main chute flutter away on the breeze, to see if we were okay. I was just glad to be back on mother earth. My girlfriend at the time had gone up in the plane after us, watched us cut away from her plane, and had jumped and landed before we did.
As we were heading arm in arm toward the dive shack, someone said to me, "Wow! do you have any idea of the odds of that ever happening to you again!?" I said, "Yes, exactly zero."
I'm still afraid of heights, and while I've never jumped again, I'm no longer afraid of jumping out of a perfectly good airplane.

I did it about 10 years ago and oddly enough, I wasn't scared at all. Heights can scare me, but I think when you're that high up, above the clouds, maybe I lost the perspective that would register fear in my brain. It's was a fun experience and once the chute opened, I found it very relaxing. I haven't done it since, but I'd certainly recommend it to anyone.

man...that's amazing....glad you are okay.
I agree i was okay until i was hanging out of the plane waiting to dive lol...that was the scariest part...but it only lasted like 2-3 seconds...after that it was just amazing. We didn't have any issues thank god....altho the straps by my crotch were a little tight. All in all awesome experience.

It is indeed a blast . I have about 35 static line jumps in everything from C130's to helecopters and even a hot air ballon/zepplin or whatever the hell the Brits call them . The rush you get is better than any high you can ever get from a drug . Did a tandem jump once and honestly I didn't care much for it as I felt it was more like an amusement park ride because I had someone else in control but I could see the attraction of doing it solo.

I played popcorn with dodge balls and a parachute in primary school... AND that's as close as I (fear of heights) will ever come to using a parachute for entertainment.
Congrats on your experience though!

This is coming from someone afraid of heights and wouldn't walk on the walkout glass on the top of the Willis (Sears) Tower because I thought the glass would break on me. Even though I'm not a big guy, and there were plenty of big people on it.

I did a tandem. From 14000 feet. It was a long day waiting for clearance to get to height. But it was all worth it. Most exciting thing I ever did. I still get excited watching the video of it. We went as a group of 4, and one of our guys crashed landed and yelled like a girl. We all got the video, so we compared Vics screams from different heights and sides.
