Been playing Black Ops for a couple of hours now, it's a little difficult right now til I learn the controller. I did get up to 17 kills though. Been a great afternoon, looking forward to some beers and an evening of Black Ops.
I figured I would start this post so we don't have to talk XBox on the PS3 forum. If anyone would like to add me my gamertag is BeerMook.
Are there any must have games for the XBox, I have heard Halo Reach is one?

Neighbor let me borrow Gears of War 2, gonna put it in tomorrow.
Really struggling with the change from the PS controller to the XBox. Also not having the HDMI cable til Friday kinda sucks. Don't know how anyone can play without one.
Playing Black Ops and drinking beer is alot of fun. 3 weeks without it sucked!

a great game to play drunk is gta 4 in multiplayer party mode. its just you (you can invite friends) and the city to do whatever you want. fly a helicopter into a building, jump ramps in the best cars in the game, etc.

That does sound like fun, might rent it tonight. Hoping to get the HDMI cable today. Black Ops with no HDMI has really sucked, but it has been better than no Black Ops.

if you've never played before, you need to get thru the first video. drive back to roman's apartment. save your game there. then, you can use the directional pad to pull out your cell phone and select multiplayer. that way, everytime you insert the disc, you dont have to go thru the first video all over again.

Bumped my xbox while playing Black Ops last night, within minutes I had a disk error, after taking the game out, I saw there was ring on the disk. After doing some reading the game is junk now.

ahh man that sucks.
i do know you have to be careful, there was a sticker on my xbox when i opened it that said "do not move or bump the console while a disk is in it" i guess what happened to you is what happens...that still sucks.
i know my local library has a disk repair machine, and they fix stuff like this for like a dollar....its pretty cheap. it can remove even deep scratches from disks make them like brand new....
many libraries now have disk cleaning/disk repair machines...I would call them ask!
im certain there is a library in your area that has one that could do it for you...it beats buying a new copy of the game,

Or you can be shady like me and go rent the game from your local rental house and switch the disks.
I wish to wash my Irish wristwatch......

my buddy did that to two of his games. he was all mad. i told him "what do you expect? its rotating very very fast in there" and he said "it still shouldnt do that" and promptly took his xbox back with the coimplaint it scratched discs. gamespot exchanged it, same thing happened. he has a ps3 now. i dont get his logic lol. you moved it while it was rotating at a very very fast pace (i dont know the exact rpms)

Have you tried installing it to the hard drive? In that case, the disc doesn't have to spin to play, all it has to do is be in the drive... It may be possible to rent it (or buy a used copy from Gamestop and return it within 7 days free of charge), install that disc, then use your scratched game. Not entirely sure that would work, but it's worth a try.

question about the xbox controller, why do the lights flash in a circle? Is it because the batteries are low?

you should tweet @xboxsupport and see what they're willing to do for you. i had a prob with my dell comp and instead of wasting any more time with dell customer service, tweeted at them and got a new pc out of it.

All lights flashing at once means the controller is searching for the box (always happens when you turn on the system/controllers).
Lights flashing alternately (top right and bottom left, then vice-versa) means your battery is low.
I pimp these games like no other, but the Mass Effects (1 and 2) are great. 3rd person shooter perspective with big RPG elements (actually, they're more RPG than shooter). Highly recommend those. Batman: Arkham's Asylum is a fun brawler-type game.
L4D is fun, but I only like it when I'm playing with people I know. Otherwise I'd rather play CoD (don't know why). Fable 1, 2, 3 three were good. 2 and 3 were a little disappointing for me as they weren't all that different from their predecessors.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

I recently started on an older game but I think its incredible....Oblivion. With Skyrim coming out later this year, I can already tell I'll be an addict.

I love them too ... but I kinda think they are a little bit overkill sometimes.
My younger brother (still in college) has put in somewhere close to 200 total hours combined for fallout and new vegas combined ... then again he would literally explore every house, every cave, and everything he could find - essential or not to the story

I think that's what made Bioshock a near perfect game (and franchise)
Fair amount of looting, upgrading weapons, all different ways to attack enemies, incredible storyline, beautiful looking game.
Can't wait for this third installment.
