Considering trying these for some patches in the yard. Anyone ever used them?
Do they work? Are they a pain in the ass to plant?

We're a little too far north for Zoysia to work. A friend of mine tried it on a section of his back yard. It all died off in the fall and never recovered over the winter.

Yea, we did.....didn't work. Felt like it was cheap enough to try it out. But it didn't yield any great results. Afterward, we just went with traditional grass seed and were much better off.
I think its better in southern climates? Not sure.....it didn't work in NE Ohio though.
I wish to wash my Irish wristwatch......

I tried them down here, and they didn't even survive the first 90+ degree week.

I have tried also...and not with good results...HOWEVER...
I attribute some of that to my own incompetance. I have seen a neighbors yard with this type of sod. and while his grass is dormant and tan and is the last to come up green every year and the first to turn brown in the fall(goes dromant for the winter) I definitely DO NOT see him out there mowing, trimming, weeding, fertilizing, etc, etc. every week that all of us do. Once green, it is a beautiful lawn.
I think the main thing is to get it established.....Once established....I believe it will be just fine. I think 2 weeks ago would have been the perfect time to plant the plugs up here. I didn't get to plant mine till June....BIG difference. and definitely make sure it gets its water to start. (thats why I think a couple weeks ago would have been perfect with all the rain we have been getting even if the temps haven't been the best.)
You also have a milder winter down where you are Shep than we do up here...so that could help too...
To be honest...The price is not too bad if you want to try a small section first....I say go ahead and give it a shot....but I would also wait until next year and early spring. And also.....try and get it planted as soon as possible once it gets off the truck.
I thought I was wrong once....but I was mistaken...
What's the use of wearing your lucky rocketship underpants if nobody wants to see them????
