NFL set to unveil preseason schedule Tuesday

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on April 12, 2011, 12:31 PM EDT

The news first came, as news often does of late, from Colts owner Jim Irsay’s Twitter account.

“PRESEASON SCHEDULE coming your way today,” Irsay wrote.

We’ve since confirmed through an NFL source that the preseason schedule is indeed coming out Tuesday. They will also announce the nationally televised preseason games.

The regular season schedule is expected to be announced before the draft. (We’re guessing it comes out the week of the draft, like last year.)

That’s the easy part. The hard part will be ensuring there are preseason games.

Thanks for sharing the news, but I'll reserve taking note for the announcement that there will actually be a season.
Until then, my gaze is fixed on 2012.

SUPERBOWL!

It's December 18th, 2012. The Browns have just won there 10th straight, going 12-2 on the season. McCoy has thrown for over 3500 yards, and has 29 TDs to his 14 INTs. Defense has allowed an average of 11 points per game. The Browns lead the division by two games, are clearly the league favorite to represent the AFC in the Superbowl, and are projected by the pundits to win it all.

Browns Town is going INSANE!

December 21st, 2012, the world comes to an end.

Yeah .... if we only allow 11 points through December next season, I will definitely believe that the Mayans are correct and the world is coming to an end.

We lost 2 of our first 4 games? I knew this new coach would suck.

At least with the world ending, Holmgren won't have to fire him.

It's a pre-no season schedule. Untelevised by FOX. And who else to do the coverage? Aikman? Needs an egg timer. Who would you have non-announce and no-color an un-game, pre-season or otherwise. And more importantly, what will it do to the Madden uNFLiverse? Vote for Hillis in case a season breaksout at some point.

The two road trips to finish the exhibition season makes me think we will open at home this year.

If not, at least we will have two travels under the belt so playing on the road won't be a big deal.

If they don't play a pre-season game against Chicago, then Chicago can't injure 3 of their players on one snap .

I Hate the chicago preseason games
I Hate the preseason in general You Win Nothing! and it seems like only the Browns get injured, year after year

after year after year.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

Nobody like exhibition games, but I would say 2 are required, 1 home, 1 away.

It gives everybody a couple of "dress rehearsals" prepping for a game. The players, coaches, equipment guys etc all need to iron out a few bugs.

To beef up the intensity, have 2 controlled scrimmages against another team during camp.

didn't we do that with the Buffalo WIllies? I think I remember a couple of years in a row? I like the idea of fewer pre-season myself. Just to avoid the injuries if nothing else.

Yes we used to...here in my hometown of Edinboro...I still wish we did it! It was a great event

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

No it's the new "series" style scheduling, where you play a team 2 times in consecutive days. The scores are added together and winner is declared by most points scored over 2 games.

It's part of the league's plan to get 18 games in... back-to-back games against the same team.
