So if Moss is healthy and we bring in Moss, then maybe we don't have to take AJ Green and we can take DT in the first round

R u saying that if we bring in a 34 year old WR...We do not need a stud in the making in a Green???...A YOUNG Green???

And I HATE descriptions of POSITION when it comes to a Top 10 pick...

U said DT...OK...So Fairley and Dareus r gone...Let's go DE...Bowers is gone...We sign Moss and when we r on the clock a Green is still there...We PASS on Green for what???...A DT or DE like who???...Watts???...Jordan???

Fill a need with Moss and IGNORE the damn future...GMAFB...

Randy Moss would be a nice piece, but I don't think signing him really affects our draft.

I'd like to see four guys on the board when we pick, Green, Dareus, Bowers, Peterson. One of those four would be great. I really liked what Warren Sapp was saying about Dareus on NFL.com.

But yeah, Randy Moss is really only effective as a deep threat, and even at that, he's not able to beat a double team anymore. He can't battle for the ball like he used to either.

Every year he gets older, he gets worse. He's different than TO who has the route running ability and thriftiness to make him a more versatile threat. Moss just isn't that fast anymore and he can't battle for jump balls like he used to.

I just don't see him resurrecting his career ALA his trade to the NE Patriots in 2007? I'd rather spend the money on someone else, or a few other people. Let's get Damien Woody before Moss, he can play two positions and he's got another good year in him probably (he might even be able to play backup center)

But yeah, especially in the first round, I'd like to focus on whoever is the best player. And I think those four guys I mentioned are the best four players. Personally, I'd like AJ Green, but those other three I mentioned would be great too.

No.. I said there will be stud WRs in next years draft and if Moss could get us through this year, perhaps we could draft a different stud at #6 this year.....

If there was a 32 year old stud DT that would come here and sign a reasonable 2 year contract I would flip the whole thing and say sign the DT then we can use the draft picks on a WR and an OT and a LB...

In fact, pick any position of need for us and if we can sign a stud veteran then perhaps we can avoid using an early draft pick on that position this year and we can fill that need next year...

Then don't use them.

My thought was a big picture concept about acquiring talent if talent is there to be acquired and how that can help a team with as many needs as the Browns have.. I didn't break it down into 40 what-ifs... if you want to do that, have at it. But as for the scenario you listed.. maybe you take Peterson and we are on our way to the best secondary in football... maybe, if Green is head and shoulders the BPA then you take him anyway...

The only way to address the future is to draft a WR? Really? Drafting a stud DT or DE or LB or CB if available while signing a veteran WR so you can address that need in a future draft is ignoring the future? Why don't you give ME a FB.

I agree.

Free agency is all about immediate needs. You are filling holes and don't usually think about more than a couple of years down the road with those guys. Moss still has enough in the tank to fill the need for a couple of years.

Make the move. Fill the need, then draft the best players available.

Here's the quote: "I want to play football, if it is the Cleveland Browns, the Seattle Seahawks, Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots — wherever it is I just want someone to respect what I do and the loyalty that I believe in,” Moss said. “Whoever wants me I guess is where I am going to play."

This quote says it all. He never says he wants to play for us. He says he'll play for any team that respects him. Meaning he'll play for anyone. We were just one of the teams he used as an example.

is holmgren the reason why he mentioned the browns?

love him as a player, but the guy obviously has issues. i would only bring him in if it were mutual to both sides that a 1yr deal was the way to go.

Read it again.
We suck, that's why he mentioned the Browns. In the context we are mentioned, it is because we are a terrible team with a terrible outlook for our immediate future.

As in: "I want to play so bad, I'd even play in Cleveland".

Browns is the Browns

Kind of like, "I need a date so bad, I'd even go out with Rosanne"..

He's a cancer. Let him go play in Canada, or the Bengals.
