Has anyone here been to Gatorland down near Orlando? I'll be in the Orlando area next week, and just heard about this place today. I read about the "gator wrestling" that comes from doing the trainer for a day pass, and wanted to know how it was? Is it legit wrestling, or do they just kind of lay there?

...if I'm going to wrestle a gator, I want it to fight back...

Well, you're much braver than I am - unless the gator was hatched about 2 days before I wrestled it.

I don't know anything about Gatorland - but I do know, when I was in Africa, I watched Croc feeding - and trust me, I don't want to be anywhere near a croc or a gator.

I have no idea, and I have been in central Fla a time or two.

Wrestle a gator.....you sure you want to do that???

Seems like if things went wrong, they could go way wrong.

I mean, Gators aren't as big as Crocs, but even a medium sized gator could chop off a adult sized male leg in a couple of bites, and they chomp quickly..

Even a small one can rip off a hamstring in a bite.

You might want to rethink.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

My father lives in Florida and I used to spend my summers down there. He lives in Tampa but I have a lot of realitives in the Orlando, Kissimme, St. Cloud area and I've been to Gatorland before.

I mostly remember that around 1994/1995 a child fell into the gator pool and was killed and the place was shut down. You should go to Typhoon Lagoon instead.

I just took my 3 kids to Gatorland last year. They had a deal where Florida residents could get in for $9.95 each. With that price it was definitely worth it. I wouldn't be worried about getting eaten by a gator and I don't think they have gator wrestling, but you can get in the gator pit with the trainer and sit on a gator.

Thanks for the info, and that's what I was afraid of. I saw some of the pictures and there were 3 or 4 year olds on these big ole' gators. Didn't they they wrestled them. I just read a few reviews of people wrestling these 7-8 footers and I wanted to see if it was legit.

As far as I know the only place that still does gator wrestling is on the Indian Reservation in the Everglades.

No the the trainers subdue the gator and then the kids get on with the trainer right there. I think it costs like $5 extra.

So you have to do the trainer.. then you get a day pass that allows you to wrestle the gator? I hope the trainer is good looking.

Sounds like a roadie - backstage pass system.
