This 3rd string QB's got some insane throwing ability and accuracy on some trick type throws. It will be interesting to see if he manages to get anywhere in his college career.
Video: UConn's backup QB is a Jedi master of meaningless accuracy By Matt Hinton
If some marketing genius ever puts together the gridiron equivalent of the Harlem Globetrotters, UConn's third-string quarterback, Johnny McEntee, is going to make a serious run to be the No. 1 overall pick, MGMT soundtrack and all:
Obviously, you don't want to run up against this guy during the Dr. Pepper Halftime Challenge. But how well do those amazing quarterbacking skills lend themselves to actual quarterbacking? Enough to get McEntee on the field to execute a few handoffs in a blowout win over Rhode Island in 2009, but not to get a toe in the Huskies' constantly revolving door under center the last two seasons. Maybe one day the new coaching staff will even let him throw a real pass.

I think that he was a Sophmore last year. It doesn't look like he got any playing time at all.

I gotta tell ya ..... at my best, I could probably make about half of those throws even with editing. lol (Unless there was some trickery involved that somehow "made" the ball got in the hoop, etc.)

Maybe he needs to spend more time on his strength, learning the plays, working on his leadership, and recognizing defenses... and less time practicing to throw a football through a basketball goal from the upper level... just a thought.

LOL Well, yeah, there could be that.

Quote: If the kids that good, it's not why is he 3rd string, but 3rd string at UConn?
UConn had a weird QB thing this year. Our starting QB had a major marijuana issue. So Zach Frasier had to play, he sucked it up, so we played a RS sophmore named Box. That guy looked okay, but then he got hurt (and didn't play well against Louisville). So we had to play Frasier
But yeah, not sure why this McEntee never even really showed up. He is now the 3rd string QB I think behind this guy Box and another guy named Leon Kinnard. Those guys at least threw passes in games.........
But yeah, you can't be good if you can't start over Zach Frasier. He was awful. I would have loved to see what Conn could have done with a real quarterback last year.
I hated throwing the ball, it was like watching Derek Anderson (or the later version of Tommy Maddox), even Jake Delhomme. Every throw makes you REALLY nervous. Sometimes it works out, often you're screaming at the television
Quote: Cool....but how many bad throws between each good throw were edited out?
Give me a few days, access to the same areas, and I could make an exact copy of that video.
I'm not trying to bash the video, it's really something, but show me the X number of bad throws too. If X is really low, I'll be super impressed.
I'll give you a month to show me a video of you making the "hit the left upright, right upright, crossbar" from the 20 shot and the "over the head basket, forward pass basket" shots. Do just that and I'll buy you a six pack.
Regardless of the editing, it takes incredible accuracy just to make those combo shots.
