Firstly, to get something off-topic out of the way, where did the post I make in the NFL Draft forum on Friday go? Does antbody know?

Anyway, back to what I was going to say. Since the Aston Villa thread is no longer posted on, it occured to me that the reason people aren't posting on the Villa thread maybe that either they want to post about another team, or people aren't really that interested and this thread will go the same way!

Either way, I want to create this thread so people can discuss things about soccer in general if they want, not just Aston Villa, because people support different teams and in a general thread, discussion is less limited and more open. I'll start with asking people's opinions on the Carling Cup Final between Arsenal and Chelsea today. What are your thoughts?

If your post in the draft forum was about soccer then it was deleted because it wasn't about the draft...

go Villa!

It wasn't, I asked about the draft and the free agency and how they work because I'm new to it.

You might find some stuff in the info. forum.

Anywho, my team Norwich are in freefall and with mounting injuries will be lucky to survive relegation. Scraped a draw on the weekend.

Cardiff going well again, watch for a late surge probably securing a playoff place (top 6) and then, who knows?

Saw the scrapping in the League cup final, bit of handbags really.

Thought Man Utd were lucky to win at Fulham, from a personal point of view it was good to see the 2 best players on the pitch were Welsh. Giggsy is like a fine wine, probably like Cantona and Besty before him will never grace the stage of a World Cup (due to our flawed qualifying system.....oh and the fact that we are [censored].) Simon Davies played well for Fulham after his Everton nightmare. Good game.

16 goals for Christiano Ronaldo on the wing is a massive achievement.

Back to Giggs, my buddy (Utd fan) queried if Giggs had the record number of appearances for Utd v's Bobby Charlton as Giggs seems to have been around forever. Not even close when i Wikipedia'd. More than 100 appearances to go and he's 33 now....charlton played approx. 19 years.

Don't know if anybody watched it but Melbourne beat Adelaide 6-0 a couple of weeks back. Crap final, but football has really taken off here....the AFL are petrified. If Australia is granted a World Cup anytime soon watch out.

Enough for 'ya?

First off let me state that I am a Arsenal fan.

Being in the States I didnt get to watch the match but followed online and read the articles on it afterwards. Typical Arsenal game ,dominate the whole mact but dont take advantage of their oppurtunitys and let it stay a close match. The gunners have won their fair share of these matches but this one wasnt meant to be. I hear there was a pretty ugly brawl in stoppage time at end of match. I also hear Terry got tore up pretty bad.

Keep in mind Wenger played young guys and reserves for the most part in this game while the Blue scum played all their regulars. This game probably would have been a run over for Arsenal if Henry and the rest of the regulars had played.

One thing I wanted to point out after today's events was that at the moment, there are no Villa players in England's senior squad, yet 4 in the England Under-21 squad! What has Gareth Barry got to do to get a game?

Being from England I’m quite surprised with your knowledge of our cherished sport. I’m an Evertonian and in recent years life has been tough, but now David Moyes is taking us in the right direction! I used to play Soccer but gave it up for Badminton. I represented my Town and my local club toured Holland every year (one year we won the Holland cup)

It wasn't too good, although we should have got at least a point from the game. I'm quite surprised at the amount of people who follow soccer/football on here.
