Browns' Wright done for season

BEREA, Ohio (AP) - Browns cornerback Eric Wright will miss Cleveland's final two games with a left leg injury.

Wright got hurt in Sunday's 19-17 loss at Cincinnati. Coach Eric Mangini said Wright won't play again this season for the Browns (5-9), who will host Baltimore and Pittsburgh. Mangini does not know if the four-year veteran will need surgery.

Wright was already battling a knee injury when he got hurt. Wright, who lost his starting job a few weeks ago to rookie Joe Haden, couldn't put any pressure on his leg as he was helped off the field but was later walking around on the sideline.

He was expected to undergo an MRI on Monday.

I wonder if we'll resign him in the offseason?

That's a shame. He was playing better since Haden took his spot... we were hearing his name for negative plays a LOT less.

bummer. it didn't look good when it happened. Rubin's leg whipping into him has to be similar to getting hit below the knee with a 60-lb club. He won't get the chance to redeem himself against Boldin this week. Who's up next?

I couldn;t believe it when they showed him walking at all. It looked like his leg went about 45 degrees in the wrong direction.

We better! He may have had a down year, and maybe he really isn't as good as we thought he was, but I sure as hell don't want to have guys like Ralph Brown and Terry Cousin starting in our nickel corner slot.

Amen to that. We have 0 cornerback depth. In fact, with any significant injuries we can barely field a defensive backfield at the moment. The fact that he had a down year is immaterial unless we plan on bringing in 3-4 new corners next year through the draft and FA.

Answer is Coye Francies or a guy off the street. We only have 3 corners on the roster as of today : Haden, Brown, Francies (Adams has been playing emergency corner as well even though he's a safety) and Brown's shoulder is still all banged up too.

I third that.

Have him get whatever surgery he needs and prepare for 2011. He wasn't having a great season but when he's on he's one of the best cover corners in the division.

yes, he needs to be signed to an extension. This is how a team builds depth. He had a down year, but that means he will not command top dollar as a free agent. So, in a round about way, that is good news for the browns. sign him or have street guys playing db.

I think we should try and resign him, but for much less than we would have offered before this. Just don't like the idea of an up&down corner coming of a bad knee injury. But we need to give him a shot at camp.

I am OK with him being gone for the season and for good. I see him being better at slot cover, and would re-sign him IF he can get his ego out of gear, tackle and LOOK interested. Tired of snappy explanations after losses. I see the good CBs HUNGRY to cover and support. I do not share the high opinion some have here for the handful of good plays he has tirned in over several seasons. He has proven himself a liability, is now physically "damaged goods" possibly, and turned in a marginal season at best IMO. If he stays he better be a value guy.

I think he has some value that could be recovered, or exposed with some better leadership. I would have never let McDonald get away.

Agree though, you draft/acquire another Joe Haden and EW is toast.

(In the meantime, I worry most about the RSOTOL.)

We're not the only ones that saw problems with BMac. The Cards cut him and they aren;t exactly stacked at CB.
